The service provides access to a database of mobile devices and their characteristics for use in detecting and optimizing performance for a specific user platform. It gives high-performance access to the collaborative dotMobi listing, a comprehensive catalog, updated daily, of mobile devices and their characteristics.

API methods support requests providing device identifiers and return full device descriptions and characteristics. Applications can then optimize for the parameters detected.
