The TradeKing API also used oauth, and their are some code examples in the TradeKing API documentation. Here, for example, is a link to some ruby code that worked for someone: http://community.tradeking.com/groups/tradeking-api/forum/topics/9572-trying-to-use-the-order-api-in-ruby/forum_posts . Maybe you could try adapting that to the e-trade API.
