The API gives developers programmatic access to Dryads repository of scientific publications. This is just one step of Dryads goal of developing a joint data archiving policy (JDAP), allowing third parties, research institutions, and scientific publications to be shared. Their goal, at least right now, is to broaden the access of scientific data for all. To learn more about the Dryad API visit the Dryad site as well as the Dryad API blog post.
