ProgrammableWeb initially covered FoodEssentials in 2012 when its LabelAPI matched around 75% of scanned product labels from developer partners. Since then, its database has grown to include the lion's share of all products sold in the U.S. market. As FoodEssentials gets ready for another SXSW, ProgrammableWeb caught up with FoodEssentials’ Tyler Olsen to learn more about LabelAPI’s success, growth and future.
Of the many APIs we published this week, twenty were highlighted on the blog by our team of writers. In this post, we’ll shine a spotlight on those twenty, which included the Gnip YouTube Comments API. The basic idea of the API is to aid social media managers with harnessing the value from users comments and applying those values in ways that will help the company.
FoodEssentials, aimed at solving food label data problems through technology, launched the LabelAPI. The API allows developers to integrate the most comprehensive, up-to-date food and drink product label database into apps and websites. Since 2004, FoodEssentials has dedicated itself to enlightening the food choice process.
