PW is the web's leading resource for everything about open APIs and mashups. Learn more: take a tour »
The service parses and interprets a bibliographic citation submitted and breaks out separate fields such as author name, title, year of publication, publisher, and other descriptive characteristics. It is powered by an open-source application, released under the MIT license, that can be installed locally or accessed as a web service. The XML structure generated defines basic metadata for the resource referenced in the citation, or for multiple citations.
API methods accept one or more bibliographic citations as URL strings in common bibliographic formats. Methods return XML identifying author, title, year of publication, publisher, genre, and page count.
