Are there any Real Transparent API'S?

Last week I wrote a story on my blog about the need of freemium API's:

http://dominiek.com/articles/2007/12/15 … ntegration

Right now, API'S always require you to have an existing account to that service.

But what if you are building your own web service that specializes in something and you would like eg Photo organization as a side-feature? You would like people to use the same Flickr.com like functionality without them actually going through the pain of registering for a FlicKr account.

So in a way, it would be great if services like Flickr have a premium service for those other websites that want to integrate their service without sending them to their website.

Are there any API's out there that have this transparency already?

http://www.widgetplus.com - they still require an account, but you can create it on the fly on your site without the user ever noticing.
