PW Forum / API/DB of country statistics

Thanks John.  I'll admit first I'm a newbie to mashups, but I was thinking about a data source in an xml format that could be combined with Google Maps for instance.  I think a mashup like www.neighboroo.com but with the counties of the world and data on poverty, population, etc could be pretty cool.

World Bank has tons of this data but only seems accessible through their web interface: http://tinyurl.com/anqax.
