The new Obama administration's focus on transparency and the recent economic crisis has given a great deal of attention on the value of online APIs for accessing government data. One of the latest examples comes from the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis who have recently released a new API to access their FRED database, a comprehensive collection of U.S. economic trends. The API also provides online access to ALFRED, an archive of historic economic data, which features information dating all the way back to the 1920s. POEditor's goal is simple: "A simple way to translate your software." POEditor accomplishes this task through a global community of translators who can work on needed translations or launch projects of their own. POEditor developed as a browser-based software localization tool. However, developers can now leverage the platform within existing sites and apps with the POEditor API. The API calls project related data and allows developers to track progress and users to work on projects.
Hoover's, the business information company, has released their own Hoover's API, aka "HAPI". This new API enables developers to create applications that utilize Hoover's database of 27 million companies and 34 million business executives (details at our Hoover's API profile). This is certainly useful data for a variety of enterprise applications.
