Mashups using the same API (33)
With last week's Mashup of the Day winner LastLyrics, you now have your choice of over two dozen web mashups about music that also integrate song lyrics. If you look at this list of song lyrics mashups, you'll see that most of them make use of either one of the 2 lyrics APIs we have listed, one from LyricWiki.org and the other from Lyricsfly.
There are a number of ways of delivering data in real-time but until recently it has looked like PubSubHubbub, with the backing of Google, was going to be the preferred method. However, the past couple of weeks have seen a couple of interesting developments which could indicate that the developer community may actually prefer HTTP Streaming.
Stereomood is a streaming music service that gives recommendations. To start, it uses a list of moods, each of which have an associated playlist. While playing songs, users can like or ban songs, much like Last.fm or Pandora. The Stereomood API allows full access to the site's functionality to developers, allowing developers to make fully usable clients on any platform.
