Mashups using the same API (2597)
Google has just announced the addition of a valuable new feature for the Google Maps API (the most popular API in our API directory): reverse geocoding. If you are not familiar with geocoding, it is the process of converting an address into a latitude/longitude pair. Likewise, reverse geocoding is the process of converting a latitude/longitude pair into an address. Developers using the Google Maps API have had access to geocoding since its release in June 2006, and geocoding has been integrated with many of the map mashups developed with this API.
Careful what photos you tweet--and where you were when you snapped the shot. There's another site designed to warn you against the hazards of over-sharing. This time it's not related to active location-sharing, but instead accidental. The meta-data stored in your photos may be giving away where you live.
Developers still have a chance to access discounted tickets to attend the upcoming Nordic APIs conference scheduled for 18 & 19 September. Nordic APIs will be held at the Lustikulla Conference Center in Stockholm, Sweden. The founders of Nordic APIs – Travis Spencer from Twobo Technologies and Andreas Krohn from Dopter AB – have previously held events in Sweden, Denmark and Norway. The September conference marks what will hopefully be an annual regional event for business and API technology companies.
