When planning an event, aside from all the fun stuff like the programme, the décor and the like, the bottom line is getting people to turn up; and no-one's going to make an appearance if they don't even know it exists. So marketing the event is key, and that's where evvnt comes in. It's an online event marketing service that focuses on getting the word out there by broadcasting and publishing a user's event to multiple event listing sites. The evvnt API makes this functionality available to be integrated with other sites and applications.
As API use continues to broaden, it’s conceivable that APIs will soon evolve into a conduit for sharing information that will expand far beyond application software. Speaking at the APIcon 2014 conference today, author and freelance developer Keith Axline expounded on a theory that he initially explored in an article that first appeared in Wired, titled “The Universe Is Programmable. We Need an API for Everything.”
Day 2 of the Twitter-trending Nordic APIs event wrapped up last week with presentations from global and regional players ranging from business use cases of APIs to technical discussions. In an unconference session in which participants set their own agenda, major themes included scaling issues and security.
