I'vRead is a service for keeping track of what books you've read. Seems simple, but it can be rather useful for those of us obsessed with reading like myself. Its web site offers the service for free, and using it is already pretty simple. There isn't even another account to register for. All a user needs to do is add a specific tag, @ivread, to a Twitter post mentioning the book. It allows for some basic searches of the data on their website, but the I'vRead API is where the service really shines.
After four months, Facebook is set to open its timeline actions to developers this week, according to AllThingsD. The feature is an addition to the Facebook Graph API that allows developers to assign verbs for actions users perform within applications. For example, how users now "like" things, they'll also be able to "read" articles, "play" games and "listen" to music. I would expect many, many actions to be submitted to Facebook for approval, especially related to game-specific acts. It's too early to tell how closely the social network will watch its pending list of actions, though there's a clear approval process.
LinkedIn has just announced that updates have been made to the LinkedIn Developer Platform to make it even easier for the development community to "use LinkedIn as their main distribution platform for discussing and sharing professional content." One of the key ways sharing professional content will be expanded is via the upgraded Share Linkedin API.
