Mashups using the same API (4010)
Berlin start-up Readmill, is providing a platform for eBooks that connects readers regardless of what platform they are using. Readmill's core offering is a free bookreader that competes head to head with Amazon’s and Apple’s offerings. Unlike other eReaders, Readmill is based on a device-neutral, API-driven platform that integrates social recommendations, annotations and geolocation services.
When it comes to map mashups there's no doubt that Google Maps leads the way. On ProgrammableWeb we list 1,964 Google Maps mashups, almost four times as many as any other API. This popularity makes utilities built on top of Google Maps especially interesting, such as this contextual menu control, which pops up a menu when the user right clicks.
For several years millions have shared the places they've been using the Where I've Been website and Facebook application. The site also has an API (our Where I've Been API profile), which allows for much of the same functionality, such as searching countries, marking it visited and adding content such as a story or photo.
