Virtual Highway from New Zealand Transport Agency

The video is from NZTA road (pavement) survey vehicles which travel the highways yearly to collect data about road conditions. Virtual Highway is an experiment in using data which had already been collected.

The app is hosted in a data centre in Epsom, Auckland, New Zealand at 100Mb, video is encoded at a few hundred kilobits. The back end media server is Red5 and the video is channelled over HTTP in order to reach the broadest possible audience, rather sending the video over RTMP/UDP which would probably be better, but RTMP is less likely to get through corporate firewalls.
