Earlier this week Alex Iskold over at Read/WriteWeb took a good look at social bookmarking services but one of the things not covered in that piece, but of interest here, is just how many of the competitors in that space offer an API. How many? As of now we have 12 bookmarking APIs in our catalog. Not only was the del.icio.us service very successful, so was the del.icio.us API. In terms of the bookmark API competition, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Here's a rundown of the players:

For a good example of a bookmarking mashup check out the popular Cloudalicious, a visualization that shows you the count of del.icio.us tags applied to a given URL over time.
