50 New APIs: Gittip, CaptchaCoin, and Vodacom

This week, we had 50 new APIs added to our API directory including a travel deals site, a mobile application marketing platform, and a tool for building SMS applications. We also featured a story detailing the most popular APIs, including some surprises.

360 Technologies Bulk SMS360 Technologies Bulk SMS API: 360 Technologies is a software and hardware company that provides its customers with bulk SMS services. These services can be integrated programmatically with other websites and applications via REST API. This API allows users to send SMS, receive SMS, and get delivery reports on sent SMS.

AddressFinderAddressFinder API: AddressFinder delivers data describing New Zealand’s two million addresses. The AddressFinder API allows developers to programmatically access this data, as well as information on the country’s addresses, streets, suburbs, cities, and regions. Exposed functionalities include the ability to search for a specific address, retrieve an ordered list of addresses near a GPS coordinate, retrieve bulk address information for a specified area, and much more.

CaptchaCoinCaptchaCoin API: CaptchaCoin is a captcha solving service that allows users to both use the service to have their own captchas solved, or users can solve captchas and receive payment for the service in bitcoins. The CaptchaCoin API allows users to submit captchas to be solved. The API uses REST calls, and an account is required with service, as well as an API key.

Cex.ioCex.io API: Cex.io is a Bitcoin commodity exchange that that doesn't sell bitcoins, but shares in the equipment used to mine them. Users have ownership shares, and pay a fee for equipment cost and upkeep, and earn bitcoins as the machines produce them. The Cex.io API uses REST calls, returns JSON, and allows users to make queries to execute trades and get pricing information. An account is required with service, and an API key and SSL are used for authentication.

Channel Mobile SMSChannel Mobile SMS API: Channel Mobile is a South African mobile marketing agency that enables users to send out targeted advertisements in the form of SMS, MMS, and USSD. Messages can be set up to send automatically when specific events occur. Developers can integrate their systems with Channel Mobile's SMS gateway using XML strings sent over REST, SMPP, or SMTP protocols.

Club080Club080 API: Club080 provides its customers with an SMS marketing platform that can be used from any computer or mobile device. Developers can integrate the SMS gateway into another application or website via API. This allows users to send messages in bulk or check their account balance via REST calls. Users can also store their phone numbers online and get delivery reports for each sent message.

CoinometricsCoinometrics API: Coinometrics is a crypto-currency economic data provider that is utilizing economics, statistics, mathematics, and current data to attempt to explain crypto-currencies relationship with modern economic theory. The site tracks the data and applies it to establish economic metrics, and compares it to other existing fiat currencies to create usable data. The Coinometrics API allows users to make calls to access historical trade data, utilize a live trade socket, view historical metric data, and live metric sockets. An account is required with service.

CoinRelayCoinRelay API: CoinRelay is a Litecoin mining pool that allows users to do pool processing power to mine litecoin, as well as mine anonymously. The CoinRelay API uses REST calls, and allows users to query to get pool data and user account information. An account and API key are required for API usage.

CoinRollCoinRoll API: Coinroll is a bitcoin gambling service where users can use bitcoins to wager on a variety of games in hopes of increasing their holdings. The Coinroll API allows users to make calls to create an account, place a bet, request an outstanding balance, withdraw funds, check a deposit status, query a bet, query by a bet ID, and get game information. The API uses REST calls and returns JSON. SSL is used for authentication, and an account is required with service.

CoinVibesCoinVibes API: CoinVibes aims to be the unified Bitcoin exchange website where users can make API calls to get exchange data from all the exchanges through a single API. The CoinVibes API allows users to access crypto-currency data from exchanges across the internet. Uses can make REST calls to get a list of exchanges and prices, to get currency pairs from different exchanges, get currency to U.S. Dollars, currency to Bitcoin, and Bitcoin to fiat.

Crazy DomainsCrazy Domains API: Crazy Domains is an international domain name registrar that also provides web hosting and online marketing services. The Crazy Domains API provides developer access to the company’s reseller services. Developers submit customer transactions to the Crazy Domains server, which authenticates the reseller’s credentials, processes the transaction, and returns an XML response.

CurrenexCurrenex API: Currenex is a financial pricing service that offers Executable Streaming Prices (ESP™), Algorithmic Trading, Benchmark Trading, Request For Streams (RFS), and brokerage functionality with integrated Straight Through Processing (STP). The Currenex API is available through REST calls, returning JSON for many of the functions, and follows the FIX standard. An account is required with service.

DogeCoinDogeCoin API: DogeAPI is an API for the use of the crypto-currency Dogecoin built around the popular doge meme. The DogeCoin API allows users to build payment processing into merchant websites. The API includes calls to get a balance, withdraw funds, get a new address, get a user address, get an address received, get address by label, get difficulty, and get current block. The API uses REST calls and both SSL and an API key for authentication.

DrungliDrungli API: Drungli is a travel site that allows users to search and find low-cost flights, hotels, hostels, and apartments rentals. Drungli is not a travel agency, so they don’t charge any booking fees. The Drungli API allows developers to access and integrate the functionality of Drungli with other applications. Environment Canterbury Regional Council MetroEnvironment Canterbury Regional Council Metro API: Metro is a multi-agency group providing public transit services in the greater Christchurch area. The Environment Canterbury Regional Council is the lead agency in providing these services. Metro supports innovation in Canterbury by exposing data from Metro’s bus network through an API. The API provides developer access to information describing bus stops, routes, bus ETA, rider card balances, service announcements, and timetables.

Eve-CentralEve-Central API: Eve-Central is online marketplace where users can buy and sell goods. The Eve-Central API allows users to query to retrieve aggregate statistics for the items specified within a marketplace, retrieve all of the available market orders, including prices, stations, order IDs, and volumes and make other calls to the site. The API uses REST calls and returns XML or JSON. An account is required with service.

Event SMSEvent SMS API: Event SMS is a Nigerian bulks SMS provider. New users get SMS credits with registration so that they can try out the service for free. The Event SMS API allows both developers and resellers to integrate Event SMS's messaging gateway with their own websites or applications. This API allows users to send SMS and check their account balance using REST calls.

FixMyStreetFixMyStreet API: FixMyStreet.org.nz is a web site built to help New Zealanders make service requests to their local council. Examples of requests would be to fix issues such as graffiti, unlit lampposts, or damaged street signs. Users upload details to the site and the issue is submitted to their council. The FixMyStreet offers an API based on the Open311 GeoReport v2 standard. The API allows developers to programmatically indicate service request status changes, such as a request being accepted or resolved. The API is also able to append comments and other metadata to a service request.

GittipGittip API: Gittip is a weekly crowdfunding "gifting" platform. Users of Gittip can send and received weekly payments to and from other Gittip users. The Gittip API allows developers to access and integrate the functionality of Gittip with other applications. Some example API methods include returning payment information, retrieving stats, and managing user information.

GoCoinGoCoin API: GoCoin is an international payment platform that allows users to send and accept crypto-currencies as payment within merchant shops and other organizations. The GoCoin API uses REST calls, returns JSON, and allows users to make calls to interact with account data, deposit addresses, invoices, merchants, merchant users, merchant payout addresses, and users. An account is required with service, and OAuth and SSL are used for authentication.

Gradwell CallGradwell Call API: Gradwell is a communication technology company that provides a variety of services that include broadband internet access, business phone services, email hosting, web hosting, and a computer hardware store. The Call API lets users add a "call" button to their websites that allows visitors to ask to be called by the user's system. The visitor provides their phone number; one of the user's extensions makes a call to that number; and when the visitor answers, the call is routed to an internal destination.

Gradwell SMSGradwell SMS API: Gradwell is a communication technology company that provides a variety of services that include broadband internet access, business phone services, email hosting, web hosting, and a computer hardware store. Users can send SMS from other systems or applications automatically using Gradwell's SMS API. SMS can be sent from any phone number on the user's account. Messages may be sent internationally and can contain up to 160 characters.

Guild Wars 2Guild Wars 2 API: Guild Wars 2 is a popular MMORPG. The game has an API allowing developers to access game data for use in third party applications. API endpoints include dynamic events, guilds, items, map information, world vs. world, and many others. Data is returned in JSON

IntxtIntxt API: Intxt is an SMS and text marketing company that has customized its services for industries such as retail, recruitment, event management, hospitality, real estate, and education. Intxt allows users to integrate their SMS services with other applications via API. This lets users automatically send out personalized messages using data from their host system database.

JOLO RechargeJOLO Recharge API: JOLO is an India-based provider of messaging, web hosting, and mobile recharging services. JOLO's Recharge service allows users to recharge their mobile phones, DTHs, and data cards online. Developers wanting to offer these services to end users on their own websites or applications can integrate with the JOLO Recharge API. In exchange for an annual API access fee, they get paid a commission for every recharge.

JOLO SMSJOLO SMS API: JOLO is an India-based provider of messaging, web hosting, and recharging services. JOLO provides an SMS API that allows users to integrate SMS capabilities into their website or application. This allows users to send SMS, check the status of sent SMS, and check their account balance via REST calls. Developers must pay a one-time fee for API access.

KibotKibot API: Kibot is a financial markets data provider that provides security and tick data from over 40 years of trade data. The site provides access to US and Canadian stocks, ETF data, indices, forex, and futures. The Kibot API allows users to pull historical trade data from Kibot and integrate it into third party systems. The API uses REST calls. An account is required with service.

Liteapi.orgLiteapi.org API: Liteapi.org is a crypto-currency facilitator that provides resources to utilize or incorporate litecoin payment into merchant applications. The Liteapi.org API allows users to receive payments, get exchange rates, access the blockchain, and make other calls. The API also allows users to build apps that utilize litecoin, or add litecoin functionality to existing applications. The API uses REST calls, returns JSON, and uses SSL for authentication.

Litecoin-investLitecoin-invest API: Litecoin-Invest is a crypto-currency service that enables users to urchase litecoin, as well as invest in bitcoin related companies. The litecoin-Invest API allows users to make REST calls to retrieve ticker information, get market data and active orders on a particular security, get all trades in 48 hours, get trade history and dividend information, and other security information. MobileDevHQMobileDevHQ API: MobileDevHQ is a mobile application marketing platform. MobileDevHQ offers various features and services to application publishers, marketers, and developers to increase application downloads. The MobileDevHQ API allows developers to access and integrate the functionality of MobileDevHQ with other applications. Public documentation is not available; API access comes with account service.

National Library of the NetherlandsNational Library of the Netherlands API: Access to over 11,000 rights-free illuminations (illustrations and decorations) from 400 medieval manuscripts from the National Library of the Netherlands (a.k.a. Koninklijke Bibliotheek). Descriptive metadata is also available. Access via SRU and OAI-PMH protocols. Metadata is available under CC0-license, the 11,000 images are in the public domain.

Newslookup.comNewslookup.com API: Newslookup.com is a news search engine, news aggregator, and news provider. Newslookup.com crawls the web for news stories and compiles them into one place in various feeds. The Newslookup.com API allows developers to access and integrate the functionality of Newslookup.com with other applications. The main API method is retrieving news via the multiple feeds of Newslookup.com.

NTZA Traffic WebcamsNTZA Traffic Webcams API: The New Zealand Transport Agency’s InfoConnect is a web service that connects developers with NZ traffic monitoring systems through a series of APIs. The Traffic Webcams API provides developer access to more than 100 cameras across New Zealand.

OpenpayOpenpay API: Openpay is an integrated service solution for Latin America that allows users to accept and send payments online without dealing with banking systems, compliance, fraud, and security. The Openpay API allows to handle Charges (from cards, banks and stores), Payouts (to debit cards and banks accounts), Transfers between accounts, Customers, Cards, Bank Accounts, Plans, Subscriptions and Fees. The API uses RESTful calls and responses are formatted in JSON.

Papa TextsPapa Texts API: Papa Texts provides users with bulk SMS and MMS services. Any Papa Texts user with an account can access its APIs, which allow users to integrate its messaging services with their websites or applications. In addition to sending and receiving SMS and MMS, these APIs also enable users to get delivery receipts, inject contact details to a group on their account, and check their account balance.

PaymatePaymate API: Paymate is a secure payment system enabling users to accept credit card payments both online and via mobile devices. The Paymate API allows developers to programmatically update payment statuses, recover lost orders not recorded at the seller site, and to validate payments.

PC MonitorPC Monitor API: PC Monitor provides a system and features to remotely monitor and control IT systems from smartphones and tablets. The PC Monitor API allows developers to access and integrate the functionality of PC Monitor with other applications. QUICK SMSQUICK SMS API: QUICK SMS provides users with a bulk SMS gateway for sending out texts as reminders, invitations, alerts, etc. It can also be used for marketing campaigns. The QUICK SMS API allows users to integrate an application, website, or system with the SMS gateway via REST calls. This allows users to programmatically send SMS, get delivery reports on sent messages, and check their account balance.

Sampark SMSSampark SMS API: Sampark SMS provides bulk SMS services for businesses, schools, colleges, and other such organizations. It is designed to help keep in touch with existing clients and cultivate new leads. The Sampark SMS API allows users to integrate bulk SMS capabilities into their websites and applications. Users must contact Sampark's support team for further documentation.

SMSClusterSMSCluster API: SMSCluster is an international SMS marketing service that enables users to send bulk SMS to recipients anywhere in the world. It can be used to send alerts, run a marketing campaign, celebrate an event, and perform other mass communication tasks. During development, users can make use of a "simulation mode" to avoid wasting funds on sending test SMS. The Ring Ring CompanyThe Ring Ring Company API: The Ring Ring Company is based in Belgium and provides its customers with SMS services. Users can connect their own applications and websites to the Ring Ring Company's SMS gateway via API. From the gateway, users can send mobile terminated messages (MT), mobile terminated reverse billed messages (MTR), and mobile originated messages (MO). The Nile carries books, baby supplies, health and beauty, home and garden, pets, movies, music, sports and outdoors, textbooks, and toys. The Nile provides a REST API that delivers product information from the book department and accesses the Nile’s search engine.

Trade.tfTrade.tf API: Trade.tf is a product sales site for steam users. Users can post for sale or buy items. The site includes trading segregated by quality, spreadsheets of pricing, and crates of items. The Trade.tf API allows uses to use REST calls to get a spreadsheet to display prices on a user's website. The API returns JSON and an API Key is required for use. An account is required with service.

TrustedCoinTrustedCoin API: TrustedCoin is a bitcoin security service that offers to add additional levels of security and authentication to bitcoin storage and transactions. The TrustedCoin API uses REST calls and returns JSON. The API allows users to send alerts to prevent unauthorized transactions, create custom wallets, and add additional layers of security on top of bitcoin wallets and other services. Vault of SatoshiVault of Satoshi API: Vault of Satoshi is an exchange and trading platform for Bitcoins and other crypto currencies like Litecoin and Peercoin. These come with a wide range of useful features, including the ability to create and use templates, future message scheduling, automated message personalization, a built-in URL shortener, pre-send number validation, full reporting, dynamic sender IDs, and more. New users are given credits when they sign up to let them test out the platform for free. The Wholesale SMS API allows users to access all of the functionality of the web-based platform and integrate it into their own applications. Wholesale SMS comes with a white label option that allows it to be branded in order to blend seamlessly with any application.
