54 New APIs: Aviary, Maestro, and Mobile Payments

This week we had 54 new APIs added to our API directory including a cloud storage service, image editing service, mobile payments service, social media marketing platform, contextual keyword extraction service, travel industry transaction processing service. In addition, we provided more in depth coverage of an online music service. Below are more details on each of these new APIs.

Affiliate Window MerchantAffiliate Window Merchant API: Affiliate Window is an affiliate marketing company and the largest independent network in the UK with over 750 merchants. The Merchant API provides the necessary functionality to retrieve all the information about a merchant's transactions and link performance statistics. Methods include getLinkPerformanceOverview and getTransaction. The API uses SOAP protocol and responses are formatted in XML.

Affiliate Window ProductServeAffiliate Window ProductServe API: Affiliate Window is an affiliate marketing company and the largest independent network in the UK with over 750 merchants. The ProductServe API provides access to Affiliate Window product data to allow development of products such as the ShopWindow Toolkit. With the API, developers can query and retrieve lists of products, merchants, discount codes and more. The API uses SOAP calls and responses are formatted in XML.

AmadeusAmadeus API: Amadeus is the leading provider of IT solutions and transaction processor to the travel and tourism industry. Amadeus provides processing services including search, pricing, booking and ticketing in real-time to travel providers and travel agencies. The Amadeus API lets developers build and update customised travel booking applications.The API uses both HTTP and SOAP protocol and responses are formatted in XML. AT&T Synaptic ComputeAT&T Synaptic Compute API: AT&T Synaptic Compute as a Service offers pay-as-you-go cloud computing for companies and developers allowing users to quickly obtain access to virtual servers. AT&T Synaptic Compute as a Service provides APIs that allow developers to enable a customized cloud computing interface over the Internet. Using the APIs, developers can:
*Design a customized cloud computing management interface
*Enable additional authentication to allow access to specific functions and/or specific server images
*Allow the service to be managed over the Internet or only via private networking
*Create customized reporting for your individual needs
*Access all the same functions as in the graphical user interface (GUI)

AT&T Synaptic StorageAT&T Synaptic Storage API: AT&T Synaptic Storage as a Service is a web services-based storage solution that scales to any size and allows users to pay only for the storage they use. It provides capacity on demand and allows access to stored data from virtually anywhere and any time. The service is accessed using the EMC Atmos API. This API allows users to directly integrate the service with custom applications or off-the-shelf packaged software. Aviary FeatherAviary Feather API: Separate from its flagship Aviary API, an embedded photo editor, this API provides a more limited set of tools and effects for users to embed the service into their own web site. With the JavaScript API users can Customize the skin to match their website as well as offer effects such as cropping, resizing, levels and other photo effects.

BioCatalogueBioCatalogue API: BioCatalogue is a registry of biological web services. The BioCatalogue website is freely accessible as it is searchable and indexable to search engines. It provides an open platform for biological web services registration, annotation, and monitoring.

The BioCatalogue API provides a set of public endpoints that allow developers to query the registry programmatically and integrate the data and functionality into the developer's own scripts, workflows, apps, tools, and mashups. The BioCatalogue API is read only, with write support for submission of REST and SOAP services, as well as annotations.

BitTrustBitTrust API: The BitTrust API provides a common platform for developers of applications to build their user interfaces around. It removes the necessity to build out many specific features for every application and instead share one data center via the central API. Applications using the BitTrust API let users conduct transactions using BitCoin; a decentralized internet currency. The BitTrust API uses RESTful calls and responses are formatted in JSON.

BOKUBOKU API: BOKU is an online payments service that lets consumers pay for virtual and digital goods with their mobile phones. The API allows developers to integrate the BOKU service into their own web sites. Users can use the API for currency translation in 50 countries as well as displaying the language in the visitor's language. Documentation is available upon registration.

CincopaCincopa API: Cincopa is an Internet platform that enables users to create media-rich web sites and applications by utilizing a cloud-like file system. The Cincopa API allows developers to create applications that interact (post, share, backup, synchronize, listen, mobilize, upload, view, socialize etc.) with users personal digital media. With the API users can add rich media content to their existing site. The API uses RESTful calls and responses are formatted in XML and JSON.

Click.stClick.st API: Clickst is a performance-based, social media marketing and analytics platform that increases both the reach and conversion rates for marketers, and offers transparency into the social behavior of their users. Developer can use the API to share their offers via email and social networks, and track responses and conversions. The API uses REST, JavaScript and JSON-RPC protocol and responses are formatted in JSON.

Daum CafeDaum Cafe API: Daum is a web portal in South Korea that offers many Internet services to web users, including a popular free web-based e-mail, messaging service, forums, shopping and news.

The Daum Cafe is an online community. The Daum Cafe API gives users access to community data. Data that can be accessed includes: Notifications, View a list of posts, Board List View, View a list of Favorite Cafe, Recent updates, Post write-line Notepad.

The API uses RESTful calls and responses are formatted in XML and JSON. The site and documentation are in Korean.

Daum CalendarDaum Calendar API: Daum is a web portal in South Korea that offers many Internet services to web users, including a popular free web-based e-mail, messaging service, forums, shopping and news.

The Daum Calendar API lets users perform the same actions that they can with the Daum Calendar service. Developers can access Daum calendar-related data and use the API to create, view, modify, and delete calendars. The API provides the following features: Creating categories, Categories to views, Category modify, Calendar Enhancements, Creating schedules, schedule views, modify the schedule, delete the schedule.

Daum Context KeywordDaum Context Keyword API: Daum is a web portal in South Korea that offers many Internet services to web users, including a popular free web-based e-mail, messaging service, forums, shopping and news.

The Daum Context Keyword API finds important keywords within text and extracts them for users. The keywords can be used for applications such as contextual search, advertising via auto-tags and finding related documents.

The API uses RESTful calls and responses are formatted in XML, JSON and RSS. The site and documentation are in Korean.

Daum EventsDaum Events API: Daum is a web portal in South Korea that offers many Internet services to web users, including a popular free web-based e-mail, messaging service, forums, shopping and news.

The Daum Content API delivers information about films and festivals to developers. The information can then be integrated into a third party application or website.

Daum MapsDaum Maps API: Daum is a web portal in South Korea that offers many Internet services to web users, including a popular free web-based e-mail, messaging service, forums, shopping and news.

The Daum Maps API allows users to integrate the Duam mapping service into their applications. Users can create general maps, skyview maps and coordinate maps. The API uses JavaScript protocol and requires use of an API key. The site and documentation are in Korean.

The Daum Search API provides search services across the entire Daum portal including forums, videos, blogs, web, images, knowledge, print and cafe.

Daum ShoppingDaum Shopping API: Daum is a web portal in South Korea that offers many Internet services to web users, including a popular free web-based e-mail, messaging service, forums, shopping and news.

Daum TodayDaum Today API: Daum is a web portal in South Korea that offers many Internet services to web users, including a popular free web-based e-mail, messaging service, forums, shopping and news.

The Daum Today is a micro-blogging service. The API provides developers access to the functionality of the service. Funtionality includes: add messages, view user profiles, check registration, search for posts and more.

Direct Leap TechnologiesDirect Leap Technologies API: Direct Leap Technologies supports non-profit communication and campaign efforts, namely phonebank and telemessaging campaigns. Direct Leap offers APIs for their two main services, Popvox (phonebank campaign technology) and telemessaging services. Public documentation and more information about this API are unavailable.

EasyBibEasyBib API: EasyBib is an automatic bibliography composer. EasyBib helps format research sources and citations in a variety of formats. The EasyBib API is a way for third parties to create fully-formatted bibliographical sources. To integrate EasyBib's citation capabilities on sites, developers can choose from simple source code, the EasyBib Cite Widget, or the EasyBib API documentation for more complex integrations. Options within the API include data form field population, bulk posting, and various style formats and data sources.

European Union LegislationEuropean Union Legislation API: This API opens up core EU legislative data for further use. The API extracts, organize and connects data from various official sources. Developers can use the API to help conduct research, create data visualizations or build applications upon it. The API uses RESTful calls and responses are formatted in JSON.

FestivalslabFestivalslab API: Festivalslab is part of Festivals Edinburgh, the umbrella organization which works on behalf of the 12 Edinburgh festivals and represents their shared strategic interests. Festivalslab is a program of work which identifies and develops ways to improve the world's festival city (Edinburgh) - for audiences, for artists, for partners and for the festival organizations themselves.

The Festivalslab API offers, in a pilot initiative in 2011, Edinburgh Festivals' listings data for developers to produce new web and mobile based applications. Data that can be accessed and returned include venue names, price information, geographic information, and full-text search.

grnVoIPgrnVoIP API: grnVoIP is a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) that focuses on Voip-to-PSTN termination services. grnVoIP's main customers include enterprises and internet telephony service providers (ITSPs). grnVoIP offers services both at a business level and a wholesale level.

With the grnVoIP API developers can create retail accounts from an ecommerce shopping cart, create agent programs, monitor call metrics, as well as access and download account and user details into their own client relationship management system. The API uses the SOAP protocol.

Haiku Learning Management SystemHaiku Learning Management System API: Haiku is a learning management system that allows teachers to bring their classroom to the web and the web to their classroom. Features include website design and development, listserve hosting, assignment dropboxes, and more.

The Haiku LMS API is an expanding set of interfaces that allows Haiku LMS users and organizations to integrate with and extend Haiku LMS using third party programs. The Haiku LMS REST API allows developers to write programs that can access and modify data within Haiku LMS. The Haiku LMS API allows for a variety of functions, including retrieving user information, class information, and assignment information.

Hyves DataHyves Data API: Hyves is a Dutch social networking site. With the Hyves API developers can build applications or sites using content from Hyves. The API lets developers show content from Hyves on their own site and send content such as photos, videos, status updates, blog and tips to Hyves. The Data-API offers a wide range of functionalities such as:

* Sending messages to friends on Hyves
* Sharing photo albums
* Retrieving the latest activities of friends or famous Hyvers
* Creating blogs, tips and status updates

Interstate DevelopersInterstate Developers API: Interstate provides businesses and developers with a way to plan and share their development progress using project roadmaps. The API offers the ability to do things such as create roads, post updates, view staff and more. It uses REST and JavaScript protocol and responses are formatted in XML, JSON, JSONP and PHP.

LongTail Video Bits on the RunLongTail Video Bits on the Run API: LongTail Video produces JW Player, an internet video player. Bits on the Run manages the complete video workflow including uploading, transcoding, streaming, and analyzing. The Bits on the Run Developer API allows developers to insert Bits on the Run functionality into any website or application. This includes video uploads, player embeds, and thumbnail creation. The provider offers API kits that manage the authentication, serialization and sending of API calls, streamlining the interaction with Bits on the Run. The API uses RESTful calls and responses are formatted in XML and JSON, as well as serialized PHP and Python.

Maestro.fmMaestro.fm API: Maestro.fm enables users to access and manage their entire music library on-demand from any connected device (laptop, phone, etc.) by using a web-based utility via a hybrid client application and cloud-based solution. Combined with an interactive experience at Maestro.fm, Maestro has a social component, enhancing the personal experience, connecting users within the network,and driving social discovery.

Maestro.fm's API enables programmers to build applications that interact with Maestro's core system. With this API, developers are able to perform a variety of tasks with Maestro, such as show and play a user's library and playlist, browse and manage user favorites, and see what a user is currently playing.

Marketiva StreamsterMarketiva Streamster API: Marketiva specializes in providing traders with online trading services. Marketiva is an over-the-counter market maker, providing Forex, Indexes, and Commodities trading services.

Marketiva offers an API, called Streamster, which can be used to create applications that interface with Marketiva and Novativa. Applications using the Streamster API can retrieve various data, execute and modify orders on the market, and perform a variety of related actions, like getting quotes and ordering.

MiloMilo API: Milo is a web site for local shopping. Its service consists of searching local store shelves in real-time to find the best prices and availability for products. Milo shows users what's in-stock where and how much it costs at that moment. The site also offers detailed product information and user reviews. The API offers partners access to all of Milo's product and real-time inventory information, as well as sources of monetization. Currently, the API is reserved for private partners with traffic levels in the millions of monthly visitors. A public API is coming soon. Documentation is not publicly available.

MoneydirectMoneydirect API: Moneydirect, an Amadeus and Sabre joint venture, provides a multi-channel payment processing solution for the global travel and tourism industry. It is used by over 3000 agents and 1700 suppliers in Australia and New Zealand. The Moneydirect API provides programmatic access to the functionality of platform. The API uses SOAP protocol and responses are formatted in XML. Full documentation is available with registration.

MyTTCMyTTC API: MyTTC is an independent initative that provides public access to transit data from the Toronto Transit Commission. The data is used to power features such as a trip planner, accurate schedules, and a data feed for Google Transit. The API allows users to use the data in their own applications or mashups. It uses RESTful calls and responses are formatted in XML and JSON.

NeuStar Port PSNeuStar Port PS API: Port PS Basic combines industry data and allows you to determine telephone number ownership and routing information given pooling and porting activities. The Port PS API automates the retrieval of ownership and routing data on large volumes of telephone numbers without manual data entry so developers can integrate with their own back office systems.

Newsmonster.orgNewsmonster.org API: Newsmonster.org offers an online RSS News Aggregator that is customizable and scalable, offering the latest news from many syndicated sources in a mobile or desktop format that is easily digestible. Developers can use the www.newsmonster.org content in order to create RSS feeds for various applications for the web. The newsmonster feeds work with the RSS 2.0 specification.

PerfectFormsPerfectForms API: PerfectForms is a software application for creating and deploying web-based solutions to manage workflow and streamline collaborative processes. It uses a drag and drop interface that allows users to build web forms. PerfectForms API allows third party applications to pass data into PerfectForms or extract data from it. They can query and modify account-wide data programmatically and invisibly. The most common uses for the API are:

* creating a new form instance and populating fields with data
* updating existing form fields
* deleting a form instance
* reading data from an existing form instance.

PerfectForms has three different API types:
* Account API - Query and modify account-wide data.
* Form API - Query and modify form-specific data. Each published form has a dedicated service to read data from and write data to PerfectForms form instances.
* Portal API - Query user-specific data such as lists of viewable forms or pending notifications. This enables developers to create their own web portal where users can log in and view forms, reports and notifications.

Pheedo Ping Pheedo Ping API: Pheedo is a content syndication service to distribute RSS feeds to other websites and devices. The Pheedo Ping API allows the users of a Pheedo feed management system to request an immediate update of their feed to include recently published information, skipping the 15 minute reset period associated with the general service. The API supports both XML-RPC and REST protocols.

PhotoXpressPhotoXpress API: PhotoXpress.com is a high quality, royalty-free image bank that offers digital images and illustrations to creative professionals. The API allows users to earn more money through affiliation by allowing them to create their own image bank and earn money through the affiliation program. With the API, they can search the PhotoXpress database of Free, Premium or both collections, display results on their own website, and generate revenue through our affiliation program. The API uses XML-RPC calls with responses formatted in XML.

PoxPayPoxPay API: PoxPay is a payment service that uses voice biometric technology to identify and authorize purchases. With PoxPay users aren't required to enter a password, instead using their voice and phone as their password. Developers can integrate PoxPay's authentication features into their applications and services using the RESTful API. Users must contact the company to obtain documentation.

ProsperentProsperent API: Prosperent provides a platform for affiliate marketers to place dynamic, targeted ads on their websites. The API provides access to the functionality of the platform. Developers can build apps with the API and earn commission on every sale driven through the system, or simply use the API to augment their web site to help monetize their traffic. The documentation includes complete details about all parameters that should be set and describes in detail the extended query syntax and extra functionality of the search endpoint. PubMaticPubMatic API: PubMatic is a service for web publishers that automates and optimizes ad serving decisions. PubMatic simplifies the online publishing business by determining in real-time which ad network can best monetize each ad impression for a publisher. The API allows ad networks to deliver real-time pricing to PubMatic. Documentation for the API is not publicly available.

Punchfork RecipePunchfork Recipe API: Punchfork monitors real-time conversations across social networks to bring users recipes that are currently being talked about. The recipe data comes from food blogs and recipe sites all around the web. The Punchfork API lets users integrate recipes into their website or app by providing direct access to recipe data from all publishers in the database. Possible uses for the API include:
*Display recipes for a particular dish or containing specific ingredients.
*Get a real-time feed of the newest recipes discovered by Punchfork.
*See the top-rated recipes from a particular blogger or publisher.
*Generate semantic search indexes for your own recipes.

RandomText.meRandomText.me API: RandomText is a tool designers and developers can use to grab dummy text in either Lorem Ipsum or Giberish format. The API lets developers integrate random text generation into a CMS. The API offers parameters that let the user choose the type and number of elements and number of words. It uses RESTful calls and responses are formatted in JSON.

RavealRaveal API: Raveal is a network of professionals and companies with a visual search engine to unite them. Users can post their profile, resume and portfolio on the site and companies can use the search engine to find the best candidates. The API exposes some of the functionality of the service to developers. Users can return summary info about an authenticated user's profile, return the number of visits to the profile of the authenticated user and return a detailed list of visits to the profile of the authenticated user for a specified date range. The API uses RESTful calls and responses are formatted in XML and JSON.

Reality Digital OPUSReality Digital OPUS API: Reality Digital is a social media management company that specializes in socializing online video, video mashups, music, and images. They partner with global brands and creative agencies to create social media campaigns, video remix contests, and cross-platform online communities.

With the Reality Digital social media API, Reality Digital OPUS, developers get access to their predesigned and developed social media API instead of building a site or an app from scratch. The Opus API is an application program interface that allows developers access to their social media platform, Reality Digital OpusTM, to create new websites, mobile apps and social tools by building functionality on top of Reality Digital's service. Developers can integrate video sharing, digital media, and social networking features by making an unlimited number of calls or queries to Reality Digital's servers.

SabreSabre API: Sabre Travel Network connects travel buyers and sellers through the world's largest travel marketplace, the Sabre global distribution system (GDS). Sabre links more than 55,000 travel agency locations with more than 400 airlines, 88,000 hotels, 24 car rental brands, 13 cruise lines

Sabre web services provide access to the Sabre system functionality and products. Through the Internet, users can integrate Sabre products and services for selling travel with their own applications and databases. Web services let developers build or update a customized booking application for their website or use Sabre content within another application. ScribeScribe API: Scribe is a plugin and subscription service that analyzes blogs posts, give users information about them, and makes suggestions about improving posts from an SEO Perspective. Scribe offers an API that lets developers create custom applications. It uses SOAP protocol but public documentation is not available.

SermonAudioSermonAudio API: SermonAudio.com is a library of free MP3 audio sermons from churches and ministries all over the world. Users can search by topics, Bibles, speakers, and more.

The SermonAudio.com API allows developers to access and interact with data on the site using any client front-end and on any platform. Some of the API's functions include listing favorite sermons, searching for sermons by keyword, and adding sermons.

Shreeweb Bulk SMSShreeweb Bulk SMS API: Shreeweb provides Bulk SMS Service that enables users to send and receive text messages on any mobile operators worldwide. The Bulk SMS Gateway provides users with a range of sms products that enables sending and receiving sms anywhere in the world. The Bulk SMS HTTP API allows users to send sms from their applications or systems. The API uses HTTP and SOAP protocol with responses formatted in XML.

South African YellowPages MapsSouth African YellowPages Maps API: This API allows users to load a map of the entire world. Users can watch the map and also make different type of utilities using the API. Developers can add map controls and overlays, calculate driving directions, and search within the map. The API uses JavaScript protocol and responses are formatted in JSON.

SUSE StudioSUSE Studio API: SUSE Studio is a service that allows users to build custom Linux from a browser. Custom systems can be exported, sent to the cloud, and published in SUSE's gallery.

The SUSE Studio API can be accessed entirely via HTTP to do a variety of tasks, such as retrieving user information, viewing appliances within SUSE, and accessing templates.

Touchatag ConfiguratorTouchatag Configurator API: Touchatag enables service providers and enterprises to leverage ubiquitous identity in contactless RFID cards, and NFC mobile devices for wallet 2.0 services such as mobile payment, fidelity and interactive advertising. The Configurator API lets developers integrate extrernal applications with the touchatag service. The API uses REST and SOAP protocol and responses are formatted in XML.

Trellian Keyword DiscoveryTrellian Keyword Discovery API: Keyword Discovery collects keyword data from many different search engines world wide and compiles a range of search related statistics. KeywordDiscovery.com offers a searchable database of over 32 billion search queries, archived over a 12 month period. It enables advertisers and search engine marketers to effectively target keyword based advertising, provide advanced keyword research and analysis of search trends. The API allows developers to integrate the Keyword Discovery service into their own websites. It uses RESTful calls and responses are formatted in XML.

WcitiesWcities API: Wcities provides up-to-date guides, information and local events for cities and travel destinations around the globe. Wcities offers an API that lets users query the site data and extract the desired XML files at any time. This allows for data on demand and can also be integrated with user web pages and other products. Real time APIs are available for the City Guide, Event Guide, and Movie Guide products.
