58 New APIs: Agile CRM, Fleksy, and Hearst Corporation

This week, we had 58 new APIs added to our API directory including a product customization service, a smart home automation service, and a streaming video application. We also explored whether or not REST is losing it's flair and described alternatives to REST.

Achta SepaAchta Sepa API: Achta is a company based in Ireland that offers cloud based SEPA services for IBAN validation, mandate management, and credit transfers. Achta has extensive experience in advising corporations on cash management payment solutions and how those solutions can be integrated into existing business processes. Achta offers a realtime payment validation API for their Achtavate service, a cloud based, SEPA-ready payment solution. The API performs IBAN Validation, converts SortCodes and account numbers, checks BIC codes, and validates other payments reference data to ensure SEPA-compliance. Agile CRMAgile CRM API: Agile CRM is a customer relationship management (CRM) service geared toward small businesses. It helps users manage individual contacts using tags, a lead scoring system, event tracking, and timelines. Users can implement automated campaigns across multiple channels (e.g. email, phone, social networks). Agile CRM's analytics and sentiment-tracking services can tell the user what's working and what isn't. Agile CRM is able to integrate with other websites and apps using plug-ins or its API.

Ai Applied DemographicsAi Applied Demographics API: Ai Applied provides technologies and services that help users obtain valuable insights from their texts, social media, and other web data. Ai offers a suite of APIs allowing developers to interact with this data in a variety of ways. The Ai Applied Demographics API provides programmatic access to age and gender estimation functionality. Developers pass the text of a message, alongside optional metadata, and the API responds with an estimated gender and age. Each response additionally includes a confidence rating for each estimation.

The Ai Applied Language Detection API is a web service able to distinguish between 25 languages in real-time, regardless of text length.

Ai Applied Text ExtractAi Applied Text Extract API: Ai Applied provides technologies and services that help users obtain valuable insights from their texts, social media, and other web data. Ai offers a suite of APIs allowing developers to interact with this data in a variety of ways. The Ai Applied Text Extract API programmatically extracts text content from html web pages. Developers pass a URL and the API responds with a JSON-formatted message containing the source, title, and structured text.

AkamaiAkamai API: Akamai is a cloud platform solutions provider. Akamai offers products and solutions for enterprise that are built on the cloud. The Akamai Intelligence Platform offers users scalability and adaptability for their cloud-based applications and services. The Akamai Intelligence Platform APIs allow developers to access and integrate the functionality of Akamai with other applications. Some example API methods include retrieving billing information, accessing account information, and running diagnostics.

AllmylesAllmyles API: Allmyles is a Hungarian company that provides bookable content integration for travel services. Developers can use the Allmyles API to integrate services for booking flights, hotels and car rentals. The services are RESTful and support both JSON and XML. Endpoints include Master data, Flight, Hotel, Car rental, and Booking. An API key is required.

Any IpsumAny Ipsum API: Any Ipsum is an API designed to enable developers to build customized placeholder text. Developers simply pass an HTTP GET call specifying the number of paragraphs as well as a keyword from which Any Ipsum will generate the needed text.

AppercodeAppercode API: Appercode is a universal application platform for smart devices such as mobile phones, tablets, and other smart devices. Appercode allows developers to unify platforms across devices for their applications. The Appercode API allows developers to access and integrate the functionality of Appercode with other applications and to create new applications. BF4 StatsBF4 Stats API: BF4 (Battlefield 4) is an online, multiplayer game created by EA and available on PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. BF4 Stats is a website that allows BF4 players to view their game statistics online. These stats come from BF4 Battlelog, a social website for BF4. The BF4 Stats API allows users to retrieve information from the site's database. The API is a work in progress with more features to come.

Bug AnalyticsBug Analytics API: Bug Analytics is an Android crash reporting tool that can be integrated with applications with a single line of code. The service tracks and reports on crashes providing analytics and issue tracking. An account is required with service and tiered pricing begins at $9 per month. The API includes a feature to save app status before a crash is reported.

City Cloud City Network Control PanelCity Cloud City Network Control Panel API: City Cloud provides Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) in the form of virtual servers. Users can choose their own hardware profiles and operating systems, paying by the hour for whatever resources they allocate. Servers can be created in as little as 30 seconds and can scale up or down as needed. The City Network Control Panel is the interface through which which City Cloud users can create and manage their servers, users, and groups. The SOAP APIs available through the Control Panel give developers programmatic control over authentication, online backup, the City Cloud service, and their own server's users, accounts, invoices, settings, etc.

CopernicaCopernica API: Copernica is a service for creating, running, and tracking email and SMS marketing campaigns. It can help users collect information on contacts using web forms and surveys and then send mailings out to all recipients on file. Users may also filter recipients by interest, purchase, or activity. Copernica can set up automated, targeted, multichannel campaigns containing a series of personalized messages. Detailed statistics are provided for each mailing sent out. Copernica comes with a variety of generic integrations, but users may also create custom integrations using the Copernica SOAP API.

Design 'N' BuyDesign 'N' Buy API: Design 'N' Buy is a product customization service. The T-shirt Design Software, provided by Design 'N' Buy is an online turnkey e-Commerce solution with full integration with the Magento eCommerce CE platform. It allows users to create custom t-shirt designs within minutes with text, clipart and images. Users can then share it with a friend, save unlimited number of designs in their user account and more. The API allows admin features giving users over the store, order management and fulfillment, marketing activities and other features. The integration also features ready to print output files in PDF and JPG format and integrated real-time shipping rates from UPS, UPS XML, FedEx, USPS and DHL.

Dino IpsumDino Ipsum API: Dino Ipsum is a dinosaur themed placeholder text generator. Dino Ipsum is available to developers through a free RESTful API. Developers specify a format, the number of paragraphs, and the number of words per paragraph, and the API responds with the needed placeholder text. The API also supports CORS requests, allowing developers to pull data directly from Dino Ipsum with a cross-domain Ajax request.

Exchange Rate LabExchange Rate Lab API: Exchange Rate Lab is an exchange rate service that allows users to convert between currencies on the website, or integrate the interface into third-party apps for use in merchant shops and other applications. The Exchange rate Lab API allows users to lookup and perform currency conversions. The API supports JSON and JSONP, while using REST calls. The queried datasets updated hourly. An API Key is required with service.

FedBrainFedBrain API: FedBrain is a an economic data aggregator. The FedBrain data is acquired from public domain sources, such as the CIA, International Monetary Fund, World Bank, and the U.S. Federal Reserve Banks. The Country-by-country economic data is updated once per year and the U.S. Federal Reserve data is updated every 2 hours, every day of the year. An account is required with service, and API key is used for authentication, and the API is currently free to use. The API uses REST calls.

FilleramaFillerama API: Fillerama is a web service that generates placeholder text composed of quotes from Futurama, Star Wars, Dexter, The Simpsons, Doctor Who, and more. Fillerama is exposed through a simple API. Developers specify the number of sentences, the format, and the show from which quotes will be generated. The API responds with JSON or XML formatted text. Callbacks are supported via JSONP.

FleksyFleksy API: Fleksy is a keyboard application that replaces the native keyboards on smartphones and tablets. Fleksy's typing operates on a predictive text technology. The Fleksy API and SDK allow developers to access and integrate the functionality of Fleksy with other applications. fswirefswire API: Fswire is a social market data service that delivers relevant information to the financial markets community. The service uses proprietary algorithms to filter data from social applications such as Twitter in order to extract relevant messages that are most likely to be moving price. Fswire offers an API for programmatic access to real time social analytics including sentiment, volume and trending for major US and UK securities. API endpoints include Securities, Analytics and Links.

Game of IpsumGame of Ipsum API: Game of Ipsum is a Game of Thrones themed placeholder text generator. The Game of Ipsum API exposes this functionality. The RESTful API allows developers to specify the number of paragraphs and the percent of Latin words. The API delivers JSON or HTML formatted text.

HearstHearst API: Hearst Corporation is among America’s largest media and information companies. The Hearst API provides developer access to Hearst content. The API is able to search for articles, images, Hearst magazine websites, keyword lists, and much more.

Hitchwiki MapsHitchwiki Maps API: Hitchwiki is a collaboratively sourced site for information about hitchhiking and other cheap forms of transportation. Hitchwiki includes a map with geolocated notes from hitchhikers, describing their experience hitchhiking in a given spot. The Hitchwiki Maps API provides developer access to map data. Applications can programmatically access information on particular locations or retrieve a list of places that meet a specified criteria. Default information includes latitude, longitude, elevation, rating, and other geographic details.

json-lipsumjson-lipsum API: Json-lipsum is a simple API, unofficially powered by lipsum.com, for programmatically generating JSON-formatted placeholder text. The API is able to specify the number of segments, the type of segments (paragraphs, lists, etc.), the language, and optionally the callback function.

KidoZenKidoZen API: KidoZen is a mobile application backend-as-a-service platform. KidoZen allows mobile application developers backend solutions for existing applications and for building and managing new applications. The KidoZen API and SDK allow developers to access and integrate the functionality of KidoZen with other applications and to create new applications. Some example API methods include managing account information, managing application features, and managing users.

Open ResponsibilityOpen Responsibility API: Open Responsibility is an open access database for information on the sustainability work and performance of companies and institutions. It is a global database that any organization can use to share their sustainability data. Anyone can view and utilize sustainability information in the database for research, journalistic projects or other academic purposes. Open Responsibility offers an REST API that enables developers to integrate sustainability data into new applications and tools. Methods include Organization, Document, Measure and Fund. PaeDaePaeDae API: PaeDae is an advertising solution that turns ads for applications into engaging and rewarding experiences for application users. Advertisers can use PaeDae to place ads in applications and developers can use it to integrate ads into their applications for monetization and user engagement. VorensysVorensys API: Vorensys provides background checks on potential tenants for landlords in the UK. Vorensys checks the credit history of the tenant's previous addresses, follows up on references with the previous landlord, verifies income, and uses anti-fraud technology to identify bogus referrers. Reports are provided in plain English, without any unnecessary jargon. Developers can integrate Vorensys' services into their own applications or websites via SOAP API.

WebAIM WAVEWebAIM WAVE API: WAVE is a free Web Accessibility Evaluation Tool from WebAIM. A user simply inputs a URL and WAVE responds with a comprehensive visual summary of the site’s accessibility. This functionality is exposed through a simple API. The API accepts GET call specifying a URL and returns the page’s WAVE statistics, including number of errors, alerts, features, HTML5/ARIA elements, structural elements, and contrast attributes. The API is also able to return a listing of all identified WAVE items, as well as the XPath of each element to which a WAVE item is associated. The API is also able to retrieve the relevant documentation for any given WAVE item.

weship(io) weship(io) API: weship(io) is a shipment tracking service and shipping tracking API. weship(io) allows users to retrieve shipping and tracking information from major shipping companies such as UPS, USPS, and FedEx. The weship(io) allows developers to access and integrate the functionality of weship(io) with other applications. Some example API methods include validating addresses, manage packages and package information, and retrieve tracking details.

WurlWurl API: Wurl is a video streaming service designed to provide app-makers with access to high-quality video from publishers around the world. Wurl scans the internet for free, professionally-produced content to add to their index. They don't collect either user-generated or pirated videos. Wurl is a white-label service, which allows app-makers to deliver content from their own platforms, under their own brands. The Wurl API allows developers to set up browse and search interfaces, retrieve video metadata, and play videos through their apps.

ČSFDČSFD API: The CSFD API is a programming interface to interact with the Czech-Slovak film database run by POMO Media Group Ltd. The CSDF API allows users to make queries to search movies, search filmmakers and actors, search for users, and get detailed information about films, and make other calls. No account is required with service, and users can download the API to run locally and avoid usage limits.
