This week we had 7 new APIs added to our API directory. It was a pretty diverse set of APIs including an email marketing service API, an API for a PowerPoint sharing service, a public government database (which we covered in UK Government Launches Open Data Site: data.gov.uk), a content extraction service API, an anime collection service API, a music streaming API, and finally, an API for the new Guardian World Government site. Below are more details on each of these new APIs.

18amail18amail API: An API to remotely connect to the 18amail.co.uk email marketing service. Developers can link their membership based websites and populate 18amail mailing lists in order to send out and track email newsletters.

authorSTREAMauthorSTREAM API: authorSTREAM is a platform for sharing PowerPoint presentations online through blogs, websites, on YouTube and mobile. The authorSTREAM API provides programmatic access to authorSTREAM features and services. Developers can build custom applications that correspond to the same services available through the main website. You can interact with the authorSTREAM API using SOAP and REST protocols.

Data.gov.ukData.gov.uk API: This is the official data directory from the UK government. It seeks to give a way into the wealth of government data. The resources here are accessible via linked data formats like RDF.

FiveFilters.orgFiveFilters.org API: This is a content extraction service to help people extract and read full-text web content. It can extract content from a standard HTML page and return a 1-item feed or it can transform an existing feed into a full-text feed. Source code is also available for self-hosting.

MyAnimeList UnofficialMyAnimeList Unofficial API: MyAnimeList.net is an anime and manga community that "introduces you to people, anime, manga, and helps you organize your collections". The MyAnimeList Unofficial API follows REST principles and allows developers to interact with the MyAnimeList site programmatically via HTTP requests.

Streampad Streampad API: The Streampad JavaScript API allows developers to control the Streampad player via JavaScript. Developers can play and queue songs, play and pause the player, receive events and perform other playback functions.

World Government DataWorld Government Data API: The new World Government Data from The Guardian lets users "search through the government data of the UK, US, Australia and New Zealand in one place, rate the quality of the data, see how countries compare and submit their own visualisations of what they uncover". The API provides this data in JSON and XML formats.
