This week we had 71 new APIs added to our API directory including a fantasy sports platform, restaurant menu and local business storefront API, web video dashboard, photo editing service, embedded search service and an application integration platform. We also covered a social media management tool adding its own API. Below are more details on each of these new APIs.
ABTXT API: ABTXT is an SMS gateway provider allowing clients to use the gateway on their own sites and provide SMS services to their site visitors. The API lets developers access the service programmatically. Methods exposed by the API include sending single/multiple sms messages, check user balance, check delivery status, scheduling messages and more. The API uses HTTP calls.
Benchmark Automotive Data API: Benchmark provides automotive data and intelligence. They build applications based on this data and also make feeds of the data available to clients. This data is provided via an API that lets clients integrate automotive data into their own web sites and applications. Available data includes: Vehicle Identification Data, Vehicle Specification Data, Vehicle Technical Data, Insurance Group Rating Data, Vehicle History Data, Vehicle Finance Data, Vehicle Valuation Data and Vehicle Statistical Data. The API returns data in XML format. Full documentation is not publicly available.
Bikko API: The service provides training tools and social interactions for bicycling hobbyists. It is under development by avid cyclists from Austin, Texas, to help others track rides and record performance, with plans for route guidance and suggestions. Social networking tools for interactions among cyclists also are anticipated.
API methods currently support retrieval of route information with location and altitude as well as speed and power ratings. Returned data support interaction with mapping applications.
Boomi AtomSphere API: Boomi is a provider of on-demand integration technology. It's AtomSphere product is a Platform as a Service that lets users connect applications in the cloud with applications on-premise in any combination. With the service, users can build, deploy and manage connections directly from the web. The AtomSphere API adds programmatic access to functionality that is otherwise accessed through the service interface. Functionality includes deployment and execution of processes, generating widgets, listing widgets and more. The API uses both REST and SOAP and responses are formatted in XML.
Catch-A-Cab API: Catch-A-Cab is an online and mobile application that offers booking services for cabs and private transportation in the United Kingdom. Users can book cab transportation and track cab drive time.
The Catch-A-Cab API allows developers to integrate the functionality and data from Catch-A-Cab with other applications and sites. Public documentation is not available; access comes with a developer account.
CBSSports.com API: CBSSports.com offers a fantasy sports platform for users to create and manage fantasy teams for football, baseball, and other sports. Users can create and join leagues for competition, draft players, make player transactions through the season, and compete in playoffs.
The CBSSports.com API allows developers to access and integrate the data and functionality of CBSSports.com with other applications and to create new applications which developers can offer to the CBSSports.com community. Some example API methods include returning draft information and status, player information, team information, and scores and standings.
China Cancer Database API: The China Cancer Database is a repository for information about the incidence, mortality, prognosis, therapy, and prevention of cancer. It was established by the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology to create a uniform and nationwide cancer database. Specific information can be retrieved using SOAP APIs.

ChromA API: Chromatogram Alignment for Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (ChromA) is a tool for the alignment and visualization of data from chromatography-mass spectrometry. ChromA can be used to align mass spectrometry images so that they can be effectively compared. ChromA is available as a web console, a download, and a SOAP API.
Clarabridge API: Clarabridge provides sentiment and text analytics software. The Clarabridge API allows businesses to search, report on and analyze their documents, even those with unstructured data. Users can submit and process multiple verbatims for real-time determination of sentiment, classification of a verbatim, and stage the verbatim for future processing into the Clarabridge system. Public documentation of the XML API is not available but developers can contact the provider for further details.
DC Master Address Registry API: The service provides a master address registry as well as mapping and geographic information service (GIS) data for the city of Washington, D.C. The registry supports finding or verifying an address throughout the city. Mapping functions locate features based on the Maryland State Plane Coordinate System.
API methods support submission of a location as either intersection, block, property lot, or place name. The API returns address and map information to map the location.
DEA Number API: The subscription service provides search-based access to the official database maintained by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency of those certified under the Controlled Substances Act to handle controlled substances. Hospitals and medical facilities can lookup DEA numbers to verify appropriate access to fulfill doctor prescriptions.
API methods support submission of provider information and retrieval of a valid DEA number and information for that registrant, including location and license validity and expiration date.
Developer Garden Cloud User Management API: In addition to their telecom and marketplace API's, Developer Garden provides free to use "labs" API's such as their Cloud User Management web service.
This API allows developers and providers of Web applications to store user log-in data and profile information in the cloud. When integrated with multiple applications or websites, the Cloud User Management API functions as a single sign-in service for different applications or sites from a common provider. Users can also quickly create an account using a variety of third-party online identification providers, such as Google, Facebook, AOL, OpenID, and Yahoo!.
Developer Garden Scout24 API: Developer Garden is a company that creates API's for a variety of German telecom and marketplace organizations. They offer several web services for Scout24 - a hub for German auto, electronic, housing, and other marketplaces
There are Scout24 API's for auto and housing, as well as a general API for all of their marketplaces. These API's expose methods for searching and retrieving information from the various Scout24 marketplaces. The general Marketplace API uses SOAP, and provides a PHP code generator to assist developers with integration. The AutoScout24 API is available in both REST and SOAP, and includes JAVA, .NET, PHP, and Objective C SDK's. The housing API (ImmobilienScout24) uses SOAP as its protocol and, like the other Scout24 web services, is free to use.
Developer Garden Voice Record API: Developer Garden is a German company that creates a variety of telecommunications and marketplace API's. They also produce freely available "labs" API's, including Voice Record - a web service designed to establish a connection within German telecommunication networks, and then allow the called number to record a voice message that will be stored in the cloud for later use.
The API allows these messages to be recorded in MP3 or WAV formats. Recorded audio files can be downloaded later, integrated with and played via applications or websites, or deleted. Up to 30 minutes of audio can be recorded at a time, and audio is immediately accessible after recording. Parameters for creating a recording include establishing a maximum recording time, integrating a message that is played if the callee is not speaking loud enough, setting up welcome and goodbye messages, and establishing an automated start time (within 24 hours) for the call to start. This API is available via REST and SOAP, though the REST documentation is much more thorough.
DIALIGN API: DIALIGN is a program for aligning multiple protein or nucleic acid sequences. It constructs alignments by comparing entire segments of the sequences. This method can be used for both global and local alignment, but it is most successful when sequences share only local homologies.
DIALIGN is available as a download, a web console, and a SOAP API.
Divide-and-Conquer Multiple Sequence Alignment API: Divide-and-Conquer Multiple Sequence Alignment (DCA) is a program for producing fast, high quality, simultaneous multiple alignments of amino acid, RNA, or DNA sequences. The program is based on an algorithm that provides a heuristic approach to sum-of-pairs optimal alignment.
DCA is available as a download, a web console, and a SOAP API.
EdgeCast CDN API: The service provides a content delivery network (CDN) to store, stream, and deliver rich media assets and other data with high performance and large capacity. It is designed to enable e-commerce, optimized web application performance, and broad access to licensed media and other content. Applications supported include media and entertainment, gaming, and live events.
API methods support authentication, rights and access management, and cache management for rapid performance.
Eniro API: Eniro is a search directory for businesses and services in the Nordic region of Europe. Businesses and service providers can place ads and users can search for businesses and services in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, and Poland.
The Eniro API allows developers to access and integrate the content and functionality of Eniro with other applications and to create new applications. Example API methods include searching and retrieving information and listings by keyword, company name, proximity, and geography. Login is required to view documentation.
FlauntR API: FlauntR by FotoDesk is an online application for image and photo editing, storage, sharing, and printing. Users can upload their images and photos, apply effects and other editing techniques, and create images for social networks.
The FlauntR API allows developers to access and integrate the content and functionality of FlauntR with other applications and to create new applications. Some example API methods include managing account information, accessing photo asset information, and uploading photos and images.
Flyhour API: FlyHour is a web site where users can be shown Youtube videos randomly to aid in music and new video discovery. Users also have the option to filter the videos shown by specific country, within a certain category (like music, comedy, sports, news, technology, etc.) and to only show videos with a set number or more views. The FlyHour REST API gives developers this functionality and allows it to be integrated into their web sites or applications. With the API, a user can request to get a video from among their favorites or request to get a random video depending on country, views and category.
GetYourGuide API: GetYourGuide is a website service for travel tours and activities. Users can book their travel tours and activities for upcoming trips. GetYourGuide offers tours and activities by geography and location, categories, and activity type.
The GetYourGuide API allows developers to access and integrate the content and functionality from GetYourGuide with other sites and applications. The API returns lists of activities from GetYourGuide based on location. Public documentation is not available.
GigMasters API: GigMasters is an online booking service for entertainers and performers. Users can book entertainment for their events and parties with GigMasters. GigMasters lists entertainers and performers from a variety of genres and styles.
The GigMasters API allows developers to access and integrate the functionality and data from GigMasters with other applications. Some example API methods include searching and retrieving entertainers by location and category, access vendor press kits, and contact vendors. GoCardless API: GoCardless is a service that lets users accept online payments. Users can get paid directly from their customers’ bank accounts without the need for a merchant account and without credit card fees. The API gives developers access to the same functionality as the service. With the API users can create subscriptions, pre authorizations and bills. In addition they can read existing resources and create bills under an existing pre authorization. The API uses RESTful calls and responses are formatted in JSON.
Hetzner API: Hetzner Online is a web hosting provider and data center operator. The Robots API gives developers programmatic access to all of the server hosting functionality offered by the service. This includes retrieval and entry of information about servers, IP addresses, resets, LANs and more. The API uses RESTful calls and responses are formatted in JSON and YAML.
HootSuite Engagement API: HootSuite is a social media management platform for the web and mobile. Its users are usually juggling several accounts from Twitter, Facebook and other social networks. Messages can be scheduled, duplicated and broadcast across various services. Paid HootSuite accounts can include multiple members of a team, with additional features, such as assigning particular mentions or comments to other team members.
The HootSuite Engagement API makes the write functionality of the HootSuite platform available to developers. Applications can access the members of a HootSuite account, as well as the social networks attached to that account. Developers can create and schedule new messages, save drafts, and determine the messages that are pending.
ICE Trading & Technology API: ICE operates regulated exchanges, trading platforms and clearing houses for global markets such as agricultural, credit, currency, emissions, energy and equity index. ICE offers a suite of API for accessing the ICE futures and OTC markets. The APIs allow developers to route orders, access market data, capture real-time trade data and do post trade processing. IPRental API: The service provides access to a network of IP addresses for routing application traffic. An account with the service allows API-based access to change the IP address an application uses from a large selection.
API methods support selection among reusable bindings for concrete protocol and data format specifications for port types. This binds operations and messages to a network protocol and message format applicable to the traffic.
kikin EasySearch API: The kikin browser allows users to conduct contextual search without having to leave a web page. Users can click on words, phrases and images to trigger a search without having to copy and paste. KnotInFrame API: KnotInFrame predicts frameshift sites in DNA and RNA sequences with a simple pseudoknot as secondary structure. The prediction is based on a comparison of minimal free energy structures.

Kole Imports API: Kole Imports is a direct importer and wholesale distributor of discount and dollar store merchandise. Leverage Software API: The service provides online tools for intranet, extranet, social networking, and other online community interations. ListiMonkey API: ListiMonkey is a service that allows users to get Twitter lists and searchers emailed to their inbox. Users enter the lists they want emails about, filter by keywords if they choose, and enter the email address they want the Twitter lists sent to.

LyricFind API: LyricFind provides a legal music lyrics service. LyricFind has licensing from over 2,000 music publishers, including the four majors – EMI Music Publishing, Universal Music Publishing Group, Warner/Chappell Music Publishing, and Sony/ATV Music Publishing – as well as a database of those lyrics available for licensing.

Myows API: Myows is a web site that allows freelancers and other creatives to manage their copyright and protect their original work from illegal copying. The site lets users create proof of authorship as well as provide various means of deterrence against theft. With the API users can list original works flitered by given parameters, return info on orginal works, download original works and more. Picitup API: Picitup is a visual search service and visual data management provider. RNAforester API: RNAforester is a tool for comparing RNA secondary structures. It supports the computation of pairwise structures and the multiple alignment of structures. RNAforester is available as a web console or a SOAP API.
RNAhybrid API: RNAhybrid is a SOAP-based API for finding the minimum free energy hybridization of a long and a short RNA molecule, and is primarily intended as a means of microRNA target prediction. In this tool, hybridization is performed so that the short sequence is hybridized to the best fitting part of the long one.
RNAshapes API: Given an RNA sequence, RNAshapes can help determine its probable shape. RNAshapes computes a small set of representative structures of different shapes as well as accumulated shape probabilities. It also offers comparative predictions of consensus structures.

Sogou Search Marketing API: Sogou is a Chinese search engine with an index of 10 billion web pages. It can be used to search text, images, music and maps. The Sogou Search Marketing API is a suite of services that let developers interact with the Sogou servers programmatically. Developers can use the API to build applications that manager their online marketing accounts. Users must register for the service and approval is based on meeting outlined qualifications. The API uses SOAP protocol and responses are formatted in XML.
STANDS4 Definitions API: The service provides word definitions from the provider's online multilingual dictionary. It allows applications to perform word and lookup to generate definitions or translations, comparable to the same provider's abbreviation lookup service. Possible applications include term lookup within search results.
The API methods accept the term to be defined and return the definition along with part of speech (noun, verb, adjective, etc.) and an example of the word in use.
Stochastic IMDb API: The Stochastic IMDb API is an unofficial service that lets users access IMDb programatically. The service, updated daily, is a web-based script that parses the IMDB datafiles and exposes an API to retrieve information from them. With it users can query the database to find television shows. It uses RESTful calls and responses are formatted in JSON.
Strand Map API: The Strand Map Service (SMS), together with the National Science Digital Library (NSDL), provide an interactive graphical interface to help K-12 students understand the relationships between science concepts. Educators can use the Strand Map Service to insert Strand Maps provided by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) into websites.
SUMOTEXT SMS Gateway API: SUMOTEXT is an SMS marketing service provider that allow companies to control their text message marketing, SMS alerts and short code notifications. The SMS Gateway API lets users send and receive SMS from their web sites and applications through the use of short codes. Coverage includes the U.S., Canada and over 800 carriers in over 200 countries. The API uses HTTP calls. Developers can call to request API documentation.
SwiftCD API: SwiftCD manufactures on-demand, custom CDs and DVDs and ships them worldwide. CDs/DVDs can contain software, music, catalogs, etc. SwiftCD's SOAP API provides a way of transmitting orders of products from SwiftCD. The API allows users to submit orders and check the status of those orders.
Tap2print API: Tap2print is a service that lets developers connect their photo apps to a worldwide print and delivery network. Tap2print can be used to order photo products such as photo accordions, greeting cards, magnets and puzzles. The Tap2print API lets developers add an "Order Print" button to their app screen and connect to the service programmatically. The REST API supports all available platforms. Full documentation is not publicly available but is made available to platform developers on a case-by-case basis.
TelPages API: The service provides registry services for the .tel top-level domain. It provides a search service for domains currently registered under .tel along with ability to register new domains. Additional services include traffic analysis and branding assistance.
API methods support submission of simple queries for matches to submitted domain name strings as well as complex queries specifying a personal or organizational name, location, or business type. Results returned include information for all .tel domains matching the submitted query.
TelVue PEG.TV API: TelVue's PEG.TV is a hosted, cloud-based live streaming and video-on-demand service developed for community and hyperlocal broadcasters. The PEG.TV platform places no limits on the amount of viewers, content quality, or video duration. The player can also be branded to reflect the content provider's logo and color scheme. The PEG.TV player itself is equipped with features such as video chapter support, keyword video search, ad management, and linking to hosted or external files.
The PEG.TV API operates over HTTP, and allows manipulation of the player's behavior through parameters passed in URL's. This exposes the functionality to play individual videos, change the UI mode of the player (e.g. full or mini), and queuing a playlist.
Toronto Budget Data API: Canadian development and design company Uproot, in conjunction with the City of Toronto, has developed a REST-based API for accessing and retrieving Toronto's budget data. Using this web service, anyone can take advantage of methods that expose the functionality to query a database containing Toronto's operational and capital budget data.
Users can slice and dice the data as they please - operational data can be queried by department or expenditure/revenue types, while capital budget data can be looked up holistically or by any one of the 44 wards of Toronto. Additionally, there is a Toronto Wards KML Overlay for Google Maps that can be incorporated into applications or mashups. This API returns data in XML and JSON, and is available to use freely for any means.
Transaction Wireless API: Transaction Wireless is a provider of digital gifting provider for retailers offering B2B and B2C gift card programs, loyalty incentives and marketing solutions. The Transaction Wireless API is a suite of services that offer clients the ability to integrate the cloud based platform with existing gift card programs or third party applications. Developers should contact the provider for more information and full documentation.
Trigger Forge API: Trigger.io has developed Forge, a cross-platform app framework that allows web developers to create native iOS and Android apps from a single HTML5 code database.
Trigger's Forge API exposes a variety of methods for working with Forge generated code to create a custom user app experience. A few examples of the functionality provided by this API are detecting platforms, creating notifications, logging end-user preferences, managing tabs and toolbars, adding listeners, and accessing a mobile devices filesystem or camera.
VHX API: VHX is a service that brings online videos together from around the web. Users can discover, share and watch videos as well as create their own personal dashboards. Vyew API: Vyew is an online meeting, web conference, and webinar service. Some of the features Vyew offers include online meeting rooms, VOIP, and file sharing capabilities.

WordReference API: The service provides word lookup access and provides the English-language definition. API methods support submission of the term to look up and the two-letter code for the national language dictionary to consult. The API returns an English language definition, or an equivalent word in the non-English language specified by the request. For some terms, it will provide alternative translations in addition to the primary translation.
