Amazon Web Services recently introduced T2 instances, designed to reduce costs for applications that don’t consistently use CPU but need to be able to boost to high performance.  The lowest-cost Amazon EC2 option starts for $0.013 cents an hour or $9.50 per month. This EC2 option is ideal for developer environments, small databases, and web servers.

T2 instances is perfect for companies offering applications that use relatively little CPU at times yet still need the ability to utilize full CPU in bursts. Customers can launch T2 using the AWS management console, command line interface, AWS marketplace, and third party libraries. However, initial availability is limited to a few places around the globe.
