Android Lollipop 5.0 To Open Watch Face API

The newest release of Android 5.0 Lollipop is expected to improve the Android wearable interface and give access to a documented Watch Face API. Though developers have already been experimenting with rogue watch face apps, according to Phandroid, a documented Watch Face API is expected to be released, offering access to customizable interfaces, and the inclusion of weather notifications as icons for background display. Also accessible through an API will be new "Theater" and "Sunlight" modes for adjusting brightness.

Outside of the Watch Face API, the new Lollipop update for wearables is also expected to include a companion app similar to the Android phone app which includes a battery chart and storage analytics for insights into individual app activity and size. Also, In order to correct accidental card deletion, an update to the interface is expected to include a swipe-up function to access a simple undo option.
