Built.io Flow Update Includes Over 400 New Integrations

Built.io, a mobile backend as a service (MBaaS) and enterprise application development platform provider, has announced a major update of its integration platform Built.io Flow that includes general availability of the Enterprise Gateway, Slack Chat Bot integration, the addition of a Realtime API Listener, and over 400 new integrations. The company has added new features and improvements to several of its products in recent months. Last May, the company added new real-time capabilities to its MBaaS platform Built.io Backend.

Built.io is an Integration Platform as a Service (iPaaS) company that provides integration products including Built.io Flow, Built.io Backend, and Built.io Contentstack. Built.io Flow is an iPaaS product that features realtime triggers, activity library, advanced API builder, code blocks, workflow groups, and other data orchestration tools.

The Built.io Flow update includes general availability of an IT-friendly Enterprise Gateway that allows companies to connect datacenter systems and software securely to the cloud. The Realtime API Listener makes it possible to directly plug in SaaS applications that feature realtime capabilities like Slack and PubNub. This is different from webhook integrations which enable bi-directional communication between applications. The Built.io Flow Slack Chat Bot integration makes it possible to enable trigger workflows within the Slack enterprise collaboration tool.

The update also includes the addition of over 400 new integrations:

  • Cloud-based Business Software: Cisco Spark and Tropo, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Marketo, Jive, Slack, JIRA, Twilio, Drip, Mixpanel, Zendesk
  • Developer and DevOps Tools: MongoDB, Pingdom, GitHub, PubNub, Docker, PagerDuty
  • API-enabled IoT and Consumer Services: Fitbit, Nest, Uber, Stripe, Pinterest

ProgrammableWeb reached out to Built.io COO Matthew Baier and CTO Nishant Patel, who provided additional insight into the latest update of the Built.io Flow product. They explained that some of the other iPaaS products are designed for legacy systems and often require ESBs (enterprise service bus) and on premises installation. Built.io Flow on the other hand, is "a whole new level of cloud integration," the product is designed to be cloud based, lightweight, API driven, and easy to use.

The company has a large team of engineers that built the 400+ integrations in just a few months. Many of the integrations did not take much time to build; the company often released new integrations every few weeks and some of the integrations took only days to build. The time it takes to build a new integration for a Web service depends on the number of API endpoints, if the API is well documented, and other factors.

Baier and Patel are excited about the opportunity to democratize iPaaS with Built.io Flow. The ability to form connections between Web services from different industries, industries that were not able to be connected previously, has allowed new and innovative applications to be created. The company also plans on releasing a Built.io Flow native mobile application next month that can be used to create, view, and edit workflows and perform other Built.io Flow tasks.
