Last month, ProgrammableWeb reported that HootSuite was one of five companies to partner with Twitter and has integrated the Twitter Ads API into a limited beta version of HootSuite Enterprise. This week, HootSuite announced the launch of the HootSuite Developer Program which offers developers the opportunity to create high quality social media apps using the HootSuite platform.

HootSuite is looking for developers to create "best-in-class" premium applications and integrations. The HootSuite Developer Program provides developers with an App Directory SDK, the opportunity to earn direct revenue via the HootSuite App directory, and marketing support from HootSuite promotional programs. HootSuite also has an Engagement API available, which is separate from the Developer Program SDK.

According to HootSuite, in the last 15 months more than 600,000 apps have been installed by HootSuite users. David Dymytryshyn, App Developer of Synaptive Networks provides a quote in the announcement about the addition of premium apps:

"As a developer of a number of apps in HootSuite's App Directory, I've seen the App Directory go through significant growth and development over the last year, and I like where it is headed. The inclusion of Premium Apps can only benefit developers who are already reaping the rewards associated with contributing to a product as widely-used and widely-praised as HootSuite."

Developers who would like to participate in the HootSuite Developer Program can find more information on the HootSuite Website.
