The Intel® Expressway API Manager was designed to solve the problems of "secure API enablement and API product management" for Enterprises when they are looking for an API management solution. The partnership between Mashery and Intel allows the ability for Mashery's API sharing portal to be packaged with the security/service gateway of Intel. This combination of technologies makes it possible for Enterprises to enact an API strategy, repackage existing assets, simplify API sharing among developers, and much more.

The Intel® Expressway API Manager also makes it possible for Enterprises to extend SOA governance and gateway capabilities. "SOA Governance Technologies" are defined by Gartner, Inc as:

"SOA governance technologies are a set of tools and technologies that are used to enact and enforce governance processes and policies. They include technologies for SOA policy management, SOA registries and repositories, and SOA quality assurance and validation."

Key features of the "API Managed Services" solution of Intel® Expressway API Manager include "Developer On-Boarding, Portal Administration, Reporting and Analytics and Access to Mashery Developer Network."

The "On-Premise Gateway" components of Intel® Expressway API Manager include "Service Orchestration and Composite, Authentication and Access Control, Data Format Mediation and SLA Management and Rate Limiting."

"The Intel® Expressway API Manager platform developed in collaboration with Mashery offers the enterprise simplified API sharing with developer communities and deep back-end integration to securely expose legacy application assets and data,” said Girish Juneja, general manager and chief technology officer for Intel’s Data Center Software Division. “The composite solution will help accelerate how quickly enterprises can repackage and monetize application assets to cloud and mobile environments."
