Path, the mobile-only social networking app that lets you share “moments” in your life with a close circle of family and friends, announced it is adding 13 new API content partners, which will allow its users to share even more.

Path says it carefully hand selected its new partners, so that users can share a wider range of content including personal exercising data, photos and videos and blog posts.

The San Francisco startup, which launched in 2010, is building on the success of its first API partner Nike, which allowed users to share their running route maps and other fitness info. Path's list of new partners represents a sizable expansion to its API program, bringing the total number of partners from two a year ago to 15.

A full list of new partners includes Over, Viddy, PicMix, PicFrame, Pic Stitch, Pic Collage, papelook, Manga-Camera, Otaku Camera, Miil, WordPress and The Bible App.

Behind the API partnerships is the idea that users can now more easily bring content they are already creating in other applications into Path. All you have to do is click on the “Share on Path” button within the other application.

In case you are wondering, the difference between Path and other social networks is that Path limits a user’s social network to a tight group of 150 friends as a way to keep interactions more intimate and workable. Initially launching as a photo sharing network, the startup re-launched a year later as an “everything” sharing network.

Although questions emerged around the Path’s sign up process, the company has more than 12 million users to date. But this is still small in comparison to Facebook, which has more than 1 billion users and Twitter, with 200 million.

It will be interesting to see how many users Path gains over the next year now that its API program is in full swing.
