flavorpill logoFlavorPill provides a local gateway to a number of cities including New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, and London, and they are hosting a competition to foster some fresh ideas on how your neighbourhood should look. The best mashup using Google Maps, Google Calendar, Flickr, Twitter, Facebook, Friends Connect, Yelp, Craigslist, Foursquare or any other location aware API could win $1500, an interview on Flavorwire and a chance at becoming the head of their new local team.

The FlavorPill about page gives a good overview of what they are all about:

Flavorpill is an open network of culturally connected people. Our intuitive platform empowers Flavorpill's eagle-eyed editors, savvy users, and the world's best venues to share the most exciting and worthwhile events happening in New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, and London - with more cities on the way. Together, we foster and promote the arts, entertainment, and nightlife we love, embracing the underground, the mainstream, and everything in between.

Developers can also make use of the FlavorPill event syndication feeds (NYCLASF, or CHI) which are provided through FeedBurner.

The judges are looking firstly at great vision, but those submissions that actually work - dynamic pages, tapping live feeds - have a better chance of winning. You had better get moving though: the competition end December 14th.
