Microsoft Windows Azure is a cloud platform that allows developers to deploy and manage applications across a network of Microsoft-managed data centers and services including virtual machines, cloud services, websites and mobile services.

The new SOA Software API Management Solution for Microsoft makes it possible to create developer portals and build large developer communities that can use your APIs in their web and mobile applications. The API Management Solution allows enterprises to run APIs using Microsoft platform functionality and features real-time system monitoring, analytics, alert management and reporting.

The API Management Solution natively supports the Microsoft platform so that enterprise applications and services built on Microsoft infrastructure can offer an API program that works well for third-party application end users. Alistair Farquharson, CTO of SOA Software states for the press release that:

"SOA Software is working with Microsoft, making it easy for customers to execute their API initiatives in Microsoft environments. Our strategy with Microsoft is centered around making it easy for developers to securely expose and manage APIs. We extend the Microsoft platform with our API Gateway and Developer Community solutions that have already helped many organizations launch their API initiatives."
