Box, the online file sharing company, will host a dedicated devcon in San Francisco, March 26th. The Walters Art Museum paints an API.

First Box Devcon March 26th

Having previously hosted Boxworks for the general audience, the company is now holding its first devcon. Attendance costs $100.

Box is on a roll, having raised $100 million for a valuation of $2 billion. As Alex Wilhelm reports in Techcrunch, the business is quickly changing:

"Box has an interesting proposition for developers: financial incentives to integrate its service into their own. Launched last summer, $rev pays developers up to 15% of an individual seat’s revenue if that user is an enterprise customer and uses the developer’s Box-integrated app. If you deployed such an app across a large company, the numbers could add up."

Speakers include Box Cofounder and CEO Aaron Levie, of course, Joe Lonsdale, Partner, Formation 8 Partners, Steven Sinofsky, formerly of Microsoft, and CISCO's CIO, Rebecca Jacoby.

The event is at Fort Mason, the same location that competitor Dropbox held its devcon last year.

The Walters Art Museum in Baltimore Launches an API

The Walters Art Museum CollectionsThe Walters Art Museum has launched an API to connect with data on its collections, exhibitions, and metadata.
.

The Walters Museum has free admission with some ticketed events, and:

"presents an overview of world art from pre-dynastic Egypt to 20th-century Europe, and counts among its many treasures Greek sculpture and Roman sarcophagi; medieval ivories and Old Master paintings; Art Nouveau jewelry and 19th-century European and American masterpieces."

Documentation for the API, now in beta, states that an account is required to get a token. However, you can access what they call the Sandbox to play around with it. Detailed documentation is available on Github.
