Dan Woods on how big data will be a disruptive driver for business intelligence and the role APIs play in it. Axway acquires API management provider Vordel. Plus: Celtra introduces Javascript API and 11 new APIs.

Using APIs to Take Advantage of External Big Data

Dan Woods writes an opinion piece on how external big data will create necessary changes in how business intelligence is gathered. One of his main takeaways is that APIs can be central to businesses controlling their own data and understanding how external sources are using this data.

"In other words, if you want to look outside of the enterprise, APIs are the microscope, telescope, and binoculars through which you will do it. They will be the way that new forms of distributed intelligence reside close to the data."

An interesting read on the part APIs will play in the changing world of business analysis.
