These two recent mashups give us a good opportunity to see side-by-side examples showing the same material implemented using two different APIs. Both examples use the exact same data source from the U.S. Geological Survey and have better-than-average interfaces:
- The first map is a new Yahoo Maps Flash-based implementation from Rasmus Lerdorf, the creator of PHP.
- The second version, Earthquakes This Week, from Dawn Endico uses the Google Maps API.
And in either case, you'll see there's more earthquakes than most of us realize.
