When it comes to interacting with the over 800 social APIs, it's not just about your friend's data. It's also about your own data. The Personal Data Revolution is about making that data available to you, which is where the APIs come in.

In the above video from ProgrammableWeb's track on social APIs at DataWeek in September, you can see three talented developers discuss the ins and outs of the personal data revolution. Can developers help make the quantified self a common practice?

The panel includes John Sheehan of IFTTT, Jesse Emery of YourTrove and Beau Gunderson of Singly.

Adam DuVander Hi! I'm Developer Communications Director for SendGrid and former Executive Editor of ProgrammableWeb. I currently serve as a Contributing Editor. If you have API news, or are interested in writing for ProgrammableWeb, please contact editor@programmableweb.com Though I'm a fan of anything API-related, my particular interest is in mapping. I've published a how-to book, Map Scripting 101, to get anyone started making maps on websites. In a not-so-distant past life I wrote for Wired and Webmonkey.
