In true mashup style, I am relying on someone else's interface...
I have only just finished my first mashup about geography and news, it is called geonews! I know there is so much left to do but, I wanted to get something robust available (one the web), and then carry on to do some more.
My first mashup is there to help everyone (and especially me) learning about other countries. So, I wanted an interface that would allow someone to point at the map, and it would show all the interesting facts about this location. However, I could not do the reverse geo-coding quite right, so I had to put a search box where one is supposed to type the name of a country they want to know about. The geonews mashup grabs news about the selected country from different places. Currently:
BBC new, Reuters, AFP, and Google news, all that piped into Yahoo pipes. Also, I build links to interesting places like the world fact book. They are doing a much better job at describing countries that I could ever dream of.
I hope some people find this interesting, I know I am not the only one to have had this idea, I have seen identical mashups (often even better than mine). I am looking forward to more inspiration and more working mashups.
