Like Me Date Me is a new dating site built on top of the Facebook Graph API, which provides search-able access to user profile information. The service displays a photo and limited profile information of whichever gender you want to see. As the name of the site implies, users can "like" others, which can then lead to more interaction. The ratings approach, encouraging snap judgments, is similar to HotOrNot, which also added an option to meet the people you rate.
Viadeo, a social network founded in 2004 with 35 million professional members worldwide, is looking to take on LinkedIn as the preferred business social network in the United States -- and the company thinks that its Viadeo API will do it. Viadeo recently launched a publicly available version of its API that provides full access to the social network's users' data including career, news, groups, jobs, schools and a users status and messaging system.
Involver launched its Engagement Optimization API last week (read the official release here). Partners are utilizing the API to "optimize their ad spend on social in the way they've been doing across the web for a long time." Although advertising across social networks has been deployed for quite some time, advertisers have had limited tools to track engagement. Facebook Insights is probably most commonly used to analyze social data. When users have required deeper analysis, the advertisers were forced to use highly custom integrations.
