With so many people glued to their smart phones these days, text message marketing simply makes sense. Done right, it’s easy, personable and gets the word out instantly. Slick Text is on-board with the idea. The mobile marketing company has just released the Slick Text API that enables third-party developers to integrate its text message service into their own products.
Last month Yahoo! announced BOSS, its Build Your Own Search Service, which "allows developers and companies to create and launch web-scale search products by utilizing the same infrastructure and technology that powers Yahoo! Search." The REST API allows developers to get results in XML or JSON format for web, news, and image search queries. Recently the official Yahoo! Search Blog showcased a handful of the best mashups that third-party developers created in BOSS's first month of operation.
As Facebook is one of the major players and MessageMe is a new kid on the block, you would expect that the latter would be intimidated, if not crushed, by any direct attack from the social giant. In this case, it doesn't seem to be so. Despite Facebook recently cutting off MessageMe's access to the Facebook Friend Graph, the newcomer has since grown in popularity and managed to raise $1.9 million.
