Country REST APIs are gateways to programs that process detailed and descriptive data for different countries. These APIs can be used to access a variety of country-specific codes including ISO 3166, ITU dialing, and ISO 4217 currency. The data modules of the Country REST APIs are generated through HTTP requests that return responses in JSON format. Country REST APIs are provided by StableWeb, a web hosting company.
Data is collected from following sources.
ISO 3166 offical English and French short names are from iso.org Note: ISO is no longer providing these code lists for free.
ISO 4217 currency codes are from currency-iso.org
Many other country codes are from statoids.com
Final CSV and JSON file is downloaded from http://data.okfn.org/data/core/country-codes#readme
