Death By captcha offers a CAPTCHA bypass service. The service operates through the Death By CAPTCHA API. Users pass CAPTCHAs through the API where they are solved by an OCR or manually. The solved CAPTCHA is then passed back where it can be used. The service is available at $1.39 for 1000 solved CAPTCHAs. The API has an average solved response time of 15 seconds, and an average accuracy rate of 90%. API docs are only available to members.
It should be solely a good thing when APIs get mentioned in a popular business magazine. After all, APIs mean business, we wrote over a year ago. When the term, as geeky as it is, turned up in my Inc Magazine, it was the context and the wording that kept it from being entirely exciting.
The Death By CAPTCHA API is one of three CAPTCHA beating APIs posted to our index in just the last week. After taking a look at them I can say that they are just as seedy and sketchy as you would imagine. Even so, I don't see these services going away anytime soon. The existence of super cheap CAPTCHA beating systems begs the question, how effective is the visual CAPTCHA today?
