EMBOSS Water is a program for performing local pairwise sequence alignments on DNA or protein sequences. Using the Smith-Waterman local alignment algorithm (modified for speed enhancements), this program calculates the local alignment of two protein or nucleotide sequences. The European Bioinformatics Institute makes EMBOSS Water available as an API via SOAP or REST protocols.
