Factual provides a platform for developers to share, mash, and build applications on open data. Geopulse provides point-based access to geographic area attributes. The user provides a long/lat coordinate pair, or selects a point on a map, and factual provides business/demographic, and commercial information about the immediate geographic area. The search can return commercial density, commercial business profile, commercial/residential ratios, and population demographics like age, gender, race, education, median income, and other info. The services accepts REST calls and will return JSON. An API Key is required for service and the first 10,000 API calls each day are free.
Of the many APIs we published this week, ten were highlighted on the blog by our team of writers. In this post, we’ll shine a spotlight on those ten, which included the Rixty API. Rixty was conceived as alternative payment solution for online shoppers who would rather pay cash then risk their sensitive data on the Internet. The Rixty API simply gives developers access to the functionality so they can integrate the system onto their own website. Users must visit one of 500,000 retail locations to exchange their cash for a Rixty code(currency), that is redeemed from the API.
Factual continues to expand the world's access to data with a makeover and relaunch of its Geopulse API. Now renamed, Geopulse Context aims to provide developers with the geographic and commercial context of locations to enable personalized app experiences. The new API expands US Census data and commercial metrics available via Factual APIs.
