IBAN.com operates as a web-based portal for real-time identification, validation, and calculation of International Bank Account Numbers (IBAN). This platform uses algorithmic formulas to determine the validity of an IBAN. The IBAN Validation API allows user to query the existence and validity of IBANs using check digits. It provides access to many other features including the validation of domestic bank code, IBAN issuer, and country-specific IBAN length, code, and structure as well as the issuing bank’s address. Developers can use simple HTTP GET or POST requests to initiate the automation of IBAN validation processes. The API supports JSON and XML-formatted requests and responses.
The Validation and Calculation API is available with our other bank validation APIs such as:
IBAN Recovery API ( restores missing characters from IBAN )
BIC Validation API ( provides up to date BIC and SWIFT code reference )
Sort Code Validation API ( Bank Account and Sort Code validation specially designed for the United Kingdom and Ireland's banking systems )
Our service provides unique and in depth information for banks branches and banking codes for each specific country.
Multiple layers of mathematical validation algorithms and internal database cross-checks help businesses eliminate errors in banking transactions.
