OpenFEMA is an authoritative source for FEMA's public data, which has been released as part of the Open Government Initiative. The OpenFEMA API provides the public with free, read-only access to FEMA datasets that include information on public assistance funded projects, public assistance applicants, hazard mitigation grants, and disaster declarations. The API can also be used to retrieve its own documentation and a listing of the available datasets.
We recently covered a competition that asks developers to create tools that will aid in natural disaster preparedness and relief. In light of this, and with Hurricane Florence fast approaching the Carolinas, we wanted to make sure Developers could find the tools they need to build life saving apps.
