Per provider Jan 2016 - This API has now been turned off. Stay tuned for the new version.
The Tesco API gives you access to the vast grocery catalog of the third largest retailer in the world. Tesco's Grocery API has the ability to allow you to search for products using text or barcode, by dept/aisle/shelf categories, all special offers, and even previously bought 'favourites'. You can add/amend/delete items in the basket.
The company that launched the world's first grocery API now has a new mobile app, built upon its own platform. Anyone with a Tesco account and a Nokia phone can now add rhubarb and salad to their virtual cart while out and about. Like the API itself, the app gives us a glimpse of how we might all shop in the future, even if the future is just next year.
How do you attract developers to the world's first grocery API? How about by promising it won't go away any time soon? That's what Tesco's Nick Lansley has done in his recap of their first developer conference.
The third largest retailer in the world, Tesco, a grocery-and-more chain largely in the UK, will soon unveil a REST API for its online store (Tesco API profile). Developers will be able to search products, as well as get nutritional information, such as how many calories are in a serving of crisps or biscuits.
