Viadeo is a professional social network service. Viadeo lets members keep lists of business partners, which they can use to stay in touch, use or help each other to find new job and business opportunities.
The Viadeo Graph API is a way to bring a professional social context to websites, applications and services. Every object on Viadeo has a unique ID which can be used to call the information attached to it including any relationships or connections that exist between the objects. An object might be a member, an event or a job and connections might be professional relationships, shared articles and news feed comments. The API uses RESTful calls and responses are formatted in XML and JSON.
Quick: Name that professional network with more than 50 million members. Did you guess... Viadeo? LinkedIn is larger, with over 175 million members. But Viadeo has upped it is game with its acquisition of Pealk, which bills itself as the #1 head hunting App on the web. According to the press release, that search ability is what Viadeo is after.
Viadeo, a social network founded in 2004 with 35 million professional members worldwide, is looking to take on LinkedIn as the preferred business social network in the United States -- and the company thinks that its Viadeo API will do it. Viadeo recently launched a publicly available version of its API that provides full access to the social network's users' data including career, news, groups, jobs, schools and a users status and messaging system.
