The W3C Encrypted Media Extensions API is a specification for an API that controls the playback of encrypted content by extending the HTMLMediaElement interface from HTML5. It defines an API for discovering, selecting, and interacting with content protection or Digital Rights Management systems as well as similar encryption systems.
