The W3C Push API gives webapps scripted access to push messages delivered by push services. These push services allow application servers to send messages to webapps regardless of whether those webapps are currently active. Push messages may contain data for the webapp or a notification for the app user. The W3C Push specification is designed to promote compatibility between push message delivery methods.
