The Whois XML DNS Lookup API allows identifying who is hosting a particular domain name or website, giving details about the owner's IP address, mail and name servers, and corresponding records (A record, MX records, TXT records, etc.). This is a REST API to perform DNS queries via simple HTTP requests, receiving your results back in JSON or XML format. It contains over 1.2 billion domains and subdomains and almost 150 million MX records and 200 million NS records updated daily. Developers and security specialists can use the API to detect or deal with cybercrime or network security issues, prevent spam or DDoS attacks, and gain a better understanding of an organization's IT infrastructure.
The following is a list of sample source code snippets that matched your search term. Source code snippets are chunks of source code that were found out on the Web that you can cut and paste into your own source code. Whereas most of the sample source code we've curated for our directory is for consuming APIs, we occasionally find something interesting on the API provider side of things. If you know of some sample source code that would be of interest to the ProgrammableWeb community, we'd like to know about it.
