Flutter 1.2 Focuses On Refinements

Google today released Flutter 1.2, what it calls the first "feature release" for the software repo. Flutter first made its debut at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in February 2018. Google later released the 1.0 version of Flutter in December 2018, so it's nice to see a feature release so soon.

Google Punts Plans to Add RCS APIs to Android Q

Google has apparently backtracked on the idea of allowing third-party messaging apps to access RCS on Android phones. Though RCS is a public specification, APIs are needed to connect messaging apps to the RCS protocols employed by wireless network operators. No API means no RCS for outside apps.

Android Game SDK for Unity in the Works

Recent reports and Android open source documentation indicate an Android Game SDK for Unity is in the works. Neither Google nor Unity has made announcements regarding the project; however, the move is a natural step for both Google and Unity given the current mobile device and gaming environment.

Google Killing Google+ APIs March 2019

Google announced earlier this month its plans to shutter Google+, its failed social network, after a second security breach exposed the data of millions. Along with the social network, Google plans to shut down the Google+ APIs on March 7, 2019. However, some APIs may stop working even sooner.
