Sixteen APIs have been added to the ProgrammableWeb directory in the Demographics, Advertising, Telephony and other categories. Today's highlights include an API for retrieving over 350,000 memes, and an API that lets applications predict air travel delays. Here's a rundown of the latest additions.

FullContact has announced the CardShark API. The CardShark API allows users to "to send images of business cards to FullContact, and...receive back a response containing transcribed structured contact data." The advantage the API method of optical character recognition over competitors lies in the ability to send contacts to devices and applications beyond the device that captured the initial picture.
A community-minded API has a politcal message for the UK's Royal Mail: open up the postal code database. ErnestMarples.com is named after the former postmaster general who apparently first oversaw the introduction of the postal code in the UK.
Spatial data provider Maponics has released a new API that provides developers with access to several boundary data sets. Previously available as a beta release in February, the Maponics Spatial API (our Maponics API profile) provides access to carrier route, ZIP Code and neighborhood data for the United States.
