Guggy API Aims to Add Context to GIFs

Guggy is a new smart contextual GIF maker. Through the use of Natural Language Processing, Guggy selects a humorous GIF to complement input text. The end result is what the company calls a "GIF Message" - a GIF with text overlaid. Guggy offers complete access to the platform via a free REST API.

Panoramio Service and API to Shut Down in November

Google has announced that they will shutting down panoramic photo sharing site Panoramio, along with its API on November 4th. Originally the company had announced plans for the shut down back in 2014 but due to strong community feedback they postponed those plans until users had viable options.

MapQuest Beta Testing Static Maps v5 API

MapQuest is inviting developers to take its MapQuest Static Map v5 API for a spin while in beta testing. The refreshed API has a handful of new features that should appeal to developers who rely on MapQuest's mapping tools. The beta is being offered for free through the end of 2016.
