Throwing hardware at performance issues is a time honored tradition among developers. In most recent times, the type of hardware being thrown at those problems is Flash memory that comes in a wide variety of formats. The challenge, of course, is that most existing applications were written for magnetic storage. To take advantage of Flash storage developers frequently have to rework their applications.
This week we had 7 new APIs added to our API directory ranging from an API for managing email marketing campaigns, an API for searching for available domain names, an API for finding facvicons, an API for Google Sites, a ringtone search API, a social recruiting platform API, and an API for creating embeddable maps (which we covered in Map Any Image With New UMapper Release). The goal of HeyZap is to be the "YouTube of casual gaming" by giving site publishers a way to embed more than 6000 casual Flash games into their sites with a single embed code. Their business model (more detail from TechCrunch) is to collect revenue from ads within the games using the MochiAds ad platform and share some of that with developers. The publishers using the code don't get revenue, but get increased traffic to their sites.
